To stop anyone else having it? It's very good, and odd it hasn't had a life on CD outside the Mosaic. Probably because it's British Incidentally, I also came across a stash of multiple copies of this album a few years ago and passed as I already had a copy - and the Mosaic. There seems to be an alternative universe full of them (a bit like Biroid life forms..)

Something like Pat Metheny Group 'Imaginary Day' is a good test for a system, I find. Or 'Secret Story'.

And 'Clickin' With Clax' even got to the top of the jazz charts over here when it came out, such was the clamour of the bearded jazz geeks to get hold of it. Came out ahead of Spyrogyra !

The Berendt was bought by me back in 1977 too ! At around that time I also got that 'Modern Jazz - The Essential Records' paperback by Max Harrison, Alun Morgan et al. That was my favourite of that era. All good recommendations in that one.

Bought that one too and still have it. It was one of the few jazz tomes of the time which had piccies of the original album covers (like rare Dootos, Blue Notes etc) that you could salivate over. The critical selections were generally very good and have withstood the test of time. As far as the Penguins are concerned, I prefer to get hold of the early editions with coverage of now OOP issues. The ones that haven't fallen apart at the seams (like my early editions) that is !
