  1. Hey, come to think of it it did sort of look like that (completely missed your avatar.. ) No whistle enhancement though
  2. We once built a meccano and electric motor thing at work for qualification/endurance testing commercial computer keyboards for ruggedised applications (ie. proving it could withstand something like 1 million keypushes without falling apart). Sounds like it might come in useful !
  3. Adrian Rollini?

  6. Interesting. My preference is for the earlier album but I'll have a listen to both of the vinyls today to see if I change my views. Another one to check out is the previously mentioned 'SOS' (Surman, Osborne, Skidmore). Remember seeing them get 5 minutes on the TV, back in the day.
  7. Charles Gayle Moondog Guiseppe Logan
  8. I would have said probably as likely as a 2nd Four Freshman set.. Most likely issue would be something on Mosaic Select, I guess?
  9. Proceed immediately past Go, do not collect £200 to.. His first album - and a rare one on the Deram Nova vinyl. Still available on CD in the UK from Dutton Vocalion, so you do not have to search for a version with OBI (is that some sort of Brit Beatlemania OBI design - LOL !) Very fine session with Kenny Wheeler in the lineup. Incidentally - I saw him on one occasion in a front line along with Pat LaBarbera and backed by Elvin Jones. Elvin used him quite a bit in Europe. What an excellent tenor player he is. Not sure about his more recent 'Ubizo' recordings as I've not got them - any thoughts out there?
  10. Welcome back MG ! Now spinning Miles Davis 'Bitches Brew' (UK CBS stereo organge label first issue, pre-decimilisation price sticker (59s/11d) on the front !)

  16. Wow...must be a few months ago that I last saw Harry, but he looked absolutely great for that age. Last time I saw him I think was Swanage several years ago. He was with his Quintet featuring Chris Biscoe. Unfortunately Harry got lost in the car drive somewhere en route so he only did 1-2 tunes before the band's time wsas up. In retrospect considering his advanced years, amazing that he even did the gig. Previous to that I caught him at 'Jazz Britannia' (brilliant) and also with the Quintet with Biscoe at Cheltenham. At that one he was featured as part of Gilles Peterson's record deck DJ show to a largely 'raver' crowd (plus me ). I agree - he was in very good shape for his years.
  17. That 'Directions' is an interesting listen. I have the UK issue of it (must have bought it around 1978-ish?) Now spinning Frank Foster 'Manhattan Fever' (BN Liberty blue/white, stereo)
  18. I've got a few days off over the next week so maybe I'll head in to London and call in at the Hendrix gaff, if it is open to the public.

  21. Wow - Happy Birthday to Wayne. Lots of respect for him here on this board. Will be sure to spin one of his vinyls tonight. Probably 'Schizophrenia' .
  22. I like the bit about the gas-powered refridgerator. Only in England !

  24. Yep - wishing a speedy recovery from the op.
