  1. Keith Jarrett Elvin Jones Major Holley
  2. Quote: "We’re trying to do time traveling here.” So we are Time Lords as well as LP buyers now then? Nice article !
  3. Interesting - I've never, ever seen that one !
  4. Edgar Bateman JC Moses Walt Dickerson
  5. How is she? BlueBottle Neddie Seagoon Major Bloodnock
  6. Disks 7 and 8 of the Elvin Jones set. As therapeutic as a cold bath !
  7. How do these Fresh Sounds sound? I've been put off to date by the 'flat' sound of some of their earlier releases.
  8. A noble calling. My very best wishes for your plans.
  9. That would be £1.90 then !
  10. Probably the favourite book I actually read in 2009 was Chris Murphy's 'Miles To Go'. Certainly an entertaining and in parts very amusing read. I think it came out a few years earlier though.
  11. Elvin Jones Complete Blue Note, CD4. Some prime George Coleman on here.
  12. Steffi Graf Graf Zeppelin Gert Fröbe
  13. A couple of Dutton Vocalions: Bob Downes Open Music 'Diversions' and John Mayer 'Dhammapada'.
  14. I must give 'Nature Boy' another hearing. It did not grab me so much first time round but that might be just me !
  15. It's pretty good - I've just picked this one up. Not the greatest of fidelity but as a record of a McLean gig of the 80s/90s, can't be beat. 'Rhythm Of The Earth' is a favourite too. Some interesting dogon-inspired compositions and a 'beefy' front line, including Roy Hargrove. Doesn't seem to come out well in most of the critics writeups though. Don't let that put you off !
  16. I'll be sure to play some George Coleman tonight. One of those sessions on the Elvin Jones Mosaic, for sure (particularly the one where he is teamed with Joe Farrell and Lee Morgan ).
  17. If you've got the original UK hardback, check out the credit on the cover art. A young chap called Ian Dury !
  18. Hope he's OK too. Big fan here. One of my all time favourite players - very first time at Ronnie Scotts was to hear him with Hilton Ruiz, David Williams (EDIT - no, it was Herbie Lewis !) and Billy Higgins. George was on phenomenal form that night - what an introduction to live hard bop ! Around the same time, caught his excellent Octet with Frank Strozier, Harold Mabern, Mario Rivera and Danny Moore in the lineup. I think the most recent time I've seen him must have been his performance at QEH London, I think, along with Johnny Griffin and Julian Joseph. He played very nicely with Griff that night. Prior to that, caught him in a free open air concert with Billy Higgins and Cedar Walton in LA back in 1999 I think (I've got some photos of that gig).
  19. Looks like it's finally going to happen. Up for pre-order ! Windmill Tilter In the immortal words of Mrs T. - 'Rejoice'
  20. The original (Scottish) one is the best. With Edward Woodward and Christopher Lee (and Miss Eckland bashing on the wall ).
  21. Thanks Brownie - Never seen this but always wanted to.
  22. Saw him sweeping up his front yard once - he said 'hello'. Didn't know who it was at the time. Visiting the place next door (very modest terrace) ! John Dee Sir Percy Mrs Miggins (of the pies)
