  1. Catastrophic yes but you won't regret picking this one up. I still have to give some of those sets a serious listen too. Too bad that the Art Pepper still eludes me. Blue Mitchell Blue Note, CD3
  2. Wayne Shorter 'Speak No Evil' comes into this category. Certainly seems to have been influenced by the paranormal/spiritual. Musically, to my mind the most successful jazz album in this genre.
  3. The Bill Evans factor probably swings it for me. Didn't Mingus personally rate this as his best album? Found the 2CD RCA 'Tijuana Moods' for £5 last year. A good find !
  4. Indeed - it looks like their box design !
  5. 'Passions of Man'?
  6. I can never work out what that 'TCB' cover art actually is. A brain cell? or pizza gone wrong maybe?..
  7. Hooray Henries Cammeronistas Bullingdonian Prats
  8. Did you say that an 'Impressed 3' is coming out? That track listing looks pretty damn good. The 'commentator' must have been Tony Higgins, who was the driving force behind the original 'Impressed' and the 'Jazz Britannia' tribute on TV and at the Barbican (2005 I think).
  9. Might be an ageing CD transport issue. Skipping on mine got progressively worse until I sent back to manufacturer for a new transport earlier this year. Did the job - and with latest firmware ended up sounding significantly better than before.
  10. John Lydon Jah Wobble Rat Scabies
  11. Ridiculous story I know but a tragedy for sure - he gave quite a bit of money to charity. The BBC reports were saying he 'fell off a cliff into the River Wharfe'. That's not the River Wharfe that I know.
  12. No suprise that Surman recorded this West Indian-style material. Lots of musical activity around Notting Hill back then (not the Cameronian millionaire's area that it morphed into in the 90s - bed-sit land back then), exposure to the lively Caribbean musics played there and I think John Surman's old mate Mike Westbrook resided in the area back then too, not to mention Joe Harriott and others.
  13. 'Contemporary Records Story', CDs 1 to 4
  14. Mr Bean Vince Cable George Cables
  15. Citizen Smith Ed Milliband Mr Ed
  16. Picked that one up back in the day for 50p. WH Smiths ! An enjoyable listen. Now spinning Kenny Wheeler 'Music For Large and Small Ensembles' (ECM, 2LP). More Kenny to follow - 'Song For Someone' (Incus) and 'Gnu High' (ECM)
  17. Looks like they dumped half of the ashes on the pickup arm !
  18. Judge Judy Judy Mr Punch
  19. Great timing - welcome back !
  20. Plum Warner Jack Warner PC Dixon
  21. On his annual vacation? Hope all's well with him.
  22. Booby Hutcherson 'The View From The Inside' (BN blue label)
  23. Cannonball Adderley Nat Adderley Nat King Cole
