Around the time Jackie Mac issued 'Monuments' on RCA - so not totally inconceivable? Also John Handy 'Hard Work' etc.
I like the bit about the 1980 sojourn in Nova Scotia !
Yeah, the Ira Sullivan is good.
Spinning Jimmy Smith/Oliver Nelson 'Hobo Flats' (UK Verve, mono)
(Edited to say that the Jimmy Smith made my power amp so hot that it cut out ! )
I heard it was supposedly 'mint minus' - and from Fred Cohen's Jazz Record Center, so likely to be really good.
Still crazy. Why not get the Music Matters 2x45rpm with better sleeve design, better sonics and 100 times less price !
Just got my Mosaic catalogue through the mail today. Nice editorial by Mr Cuscuna giving the background to the set and mentioning that damn Universal fire, as previously mentioned. Will be certain to add this to my Mosaic list, after the Braxton.
I've seen Jasper live on a couple of occasions - not with this band though. For sure, he's one of the best young musicians working on the UK scene at the moment. Very solid bass player.
