  1. Hoard Wonder if he's got any Blue Notes?
  2. Cootie Williams Harold 'Ivory' Williams Helen Butte
  3. This one is definitely on my short list. Don't have any of the albums.
  4. First time I heard the flutter was on the French Pathe Marconi DMM LP (which was the first time I heard this album) and have noticed it on all CD and LP reissues since then.
  5. Benny Golson 'Stockholm Sojourn' (UK Stateside, mono)
  6. Cynthia Payne Norman Lamont Miss Whiplash
  7. Copies of the 'Horizons Touched' book available in the London Shaftesbury Avenue FOPP store for the princely sum of £10 (picked one up today). They had a good pile of copies - unlikely to last long I guess, at that price. Full price on the label is £45 !
  8. The Liverbirds The Liver Birds Bread Family
  9. Eric Thacker? He did the later Vol 2 of the 'Essential Jazz Records' I think. There was also a Ralph Laing who used to do discographies in Jazz Journal. Was that the RD Laing of alternative psychiatric medicine fame and hippy guru in a low-key pipe and slippers alternative sideline?
  10. RR Kirk 'Slightly Latin' (UK Limelight, stereo)
  11. The second one from the right has a strange resemblance to John Lennon..
  12. Captain Nemo Emo Philips Tickle Me Elmo
  13. My LP copy is a NY USA stereo. Sounds a heck of a lot better than the CD version I have though. I remember hearing years ago a radio broadcast interview with a Hankophile (might have been Ronnie Scott) where he basically said everything Hank ever did was great, apart from 'A Caddy For Daddy', which was a 'routine, undistinguished cookie cutter blowing date'. I have to respectfully disagree on that one.
  14. Well, I'd agree re: the Phineas comment but have to say that Alun Morgan is a guy who really knows his stuff so I'm happy to cut considerable slack (with the benefit of 50 years of hindsight ) and enjoy his contributions. Now when are they going to put that Melody Maker archive online?
  15. Ditto - Just the same here and I take exactly the same attitude about Murdoch and his family of parasites.
  16. That's correct. I have the Japanese Mercury VSOP 4LP box and these two tracks are included, along with the alternate of 'Moanin''.
  17. There is a silver lining to all this - neighbour's vuvuzela now permanently silenced The TV schedules were spot on today too. Switching from the football to the other channels gave this timely gem..
  18. Eric Dolphy/Booker Little 'Memorial Album' (UK Stateside, mono)
  19. He's just signed a new megabucks contract apparently ( ) but no doubt there may be a bit of arm twisting to come..
  20. Yes, too much erratic play by England - which could certainly not be said of Germany today. Fabio and Co. are in for a very stormy ride back to base. 'Cattle Class' air tickets all round? Germany deserved to progress at least to the Quarter Final.
  21. Yeah - it wasn't even borderline. Best part of half a metre across the line. Unbelievable !
  22. Could be.. Absolutely awful first half hour for England. The defence went to pieces - could have been 5-0 down. The last 15 minutes were better. Unbelieveble that Lampard's 'goal' wasn't given. Time for Blatter to get to the 21st century with some new technology.
  23. Should have been 2-2. If not for the idiot ref who is blind and gets in the way of play. Jerk !
  24. Stock Aitken Waterman
