  1. Can’t go wrong with that set !
  2. CD2 - Barbican performance 2016. Was there for this one, good to be reminded of it.
  3. Nice LP with the Thad/Mel Orchestra on Nippon Columbia
  4. Very sad to hear this news, yet another passing of an important artist. The Grachan Mosaic Select and some of his vinyl will get a spin today. RIP.
  5. Need to give that one a spin. A brave and sort of unique album.
  6. Sorry to hear this, he was one of those stalwart guys in NYC who you always assumed would be around forever. The last time I saw him would have been with Bertha Hope’s Quartet. May he RIP.
  7. Even spookier on the contemporaneous double-cassette version.
  8. I think they recommend changing the bottle after a year or so but like you, I have kept mine longer and it still seems to work fine after a few years.
  9. Yes, keep my concentrate in the back of the fridge too. Once mixed, the solution needs to be kept away from light.
  10. Interesting article here on one of Hank’s tenors - reputedly given to Ronnie Scott in the late 60s (‘68?) and recently bought by the fine UK tenor, Art Themen. I think Art is playing Swanage in July so hopefully he will give this tenor an ‘airing’. Mobley Tenor Article
  11. I have a VPI too and use it with L’Art du Son concentrate and have never had the mildew problem. I did use VPI fluid briefly years ago, without problem.
  12. Some raucous solos from Marcel on this one.
  13. The Nathan Davis track is a Jimmy Woode composition ‘Sconsolato’ I think. Don’t know this version, I am more familiar with the version by the Clarke/Boland Sextet on ‘Swing Im Bahnhof’.
  14. That would be ‘Sunrise in Mexico’. A Dorham composition which is also on ‘Whistle Stop’.
  15. Track 5 is ‘Organ Grinder’s Swing’ by the Jimmy Lunceford Orchestra Track 1 sounds as if it might be Clifford Jordan with Kenny Dorham from that ‘Starting Time’ LP on Jazzland.
  16. Really liking this one as a Tone Poet.
  17. Looks more like ‘Sir’ Danny Alexander to me..
