  4. Thanks, I'm in a great mood from this one! And Happy Belated Birthday! Thanks ! This happened to me on the one occasion. I came across 7 LP sets at £30-35 each and a Basie Live CD set for £45.
  5. Awesome !
  6. It's like a secret society ! :rsmile:
  7. Thanks Clifford ! Many thanks to all for the greetings - appreciated ! And thank you Christiern for the kind cutting from "The Times" a la Hum Dono . Very cool. I think I have a copy of that very edition of the newspaper somewhere (or was it the Daily Telegraph? - in any case it was from that very day back in '59 when, no doubt, Van Gelders was in action churning the usual daily jazz recording gem). Other than raining continuously, it has been a really excellent day. And to top it all I've had a great vinyl scoop, was able to get hold of a copy of the one Michael Garrick Argo LP I was really looking for for my collection - 'Troppo'. Vinyl in mint.
  8. Herbie Hancock 'Speak Like A Child' (BN Liberty blue/white, stereo)
  9. Stan Tracey Big Brass 'Seven Ages Of Man' (Columbia Lansdowne stereo) Joe Harriott 'Abstract' (Columbia Lansdowne stereo) Tubby Hayes 'Mexican Green' (UK Fontana, stereo) Neil Ardley etc. 'Will Power' (UK Argo 2LP, stereo) and Michael Garrick 'Troppo' on CD !
  10. Thanks very much, chaps ! I'm glad to say that I've got the day off of work today so spinning the ol' vinyl and tucking into the Johnny Griffin bio that has been very kindly bought as a present. Later on I'll crack open a Mosaic or two (maybe even the Four Freshmen? - it is covered in cobwebs I think).

  20. Yep, I like that 'Bird In Sweden' material. This is sad news and certainly another big loss to Swedish jazz.
  21. Cheri Blair (yuk) The Broon (double yuk) The Ballses
  22. I've heard that another edition will be published this year. Yep.
  23. There was also the 'Hello Grachan Moncur' remark in the Richard Cook Blue Note bio. I don't think it was meant at all vindictively but it was a shame to see poor old Grachan treated in passing like that, instead of having a para or two of information about his great Blue Note sessions.
