  1. Actor Ray Liotta has died. He was 67. RIP.
  2. Best known for the drummer in Yes, Allen White has died.
  3. It’s going to be on time this one. Usually Mosaic doesn’t charge my credit card unless somethings going to be shipped soon. If The release date is out into the future, they usually don’t take payment. The last set, Lenny Tristano, I ordered that one was first available to order, but not anywhere near the shipping date, I wasn’t billed until 15 days or so prior to the release date. My credit card was charged $169 yesterday for this new one. I placed the order a few weeks ago.
  4. Another one that hits me emotionally, Billy Stayhorn's Lush Life.
  5. Con Alma = With Soul. The title is so apropos for the mood it gives off, regardless to who is playing it. This tune bring me into a state where I am almost in tears, but not a sad sense. So beautiful. In my opinion, it is Dizzy's best composition. I was just listening to a live Mike Longo recording from 2012, "celebrating Dizzy and Miles." He plays this on the CD "with soul." Any others?
  6. Dexter Gordon and his band appeared in a Danish porno. While the couples had sex, him and the band played the background music. I had a copy of this but don't know where it is anymore.
  7. I found this interesting Dear Friends: In a secure, climate-controlled storage facility deep inside the Lincoln Center campus lies close to 700,000 of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts’ sound recordings, one of the richest resources of sound in the world. The archive contains virtually every format developed to record sound—wax cylinders, lacquer discs, magnetic wire recordings, 78 rpm discs, audiocassettes, compact discs, and digital audiotape. But because these recordings are often delicate and subject to deterioration, the fate of this unparalleled collection is at peril. The Library for the Performing Arts is ensuring these collections can live on by digitizing them and making them accessible for years to come, as you listen to the NPR report below. But, we need your help to do this work—if you feel as strongly about saving our sounds as we do, consider a donation to the Library today! With warm wishes, NPR—Wax Cylinders That Can Now Be Heard for the First Time in 100 Years What's on the 2,700 wax cylinders the Library for the Performing Arts has in its archive? Because many wax cylinders don't have labels on them, unlike vinyl, they’re often a mystery! But thanks to new digitization technology, we can find out without further damaging the cylinders. Jennifer Vanasco from NPR paid a visit to the Library during the installation of the Endpoint Cylinder Machine, which will help the Library digitize wax cylinders. She reported on the mysteries that we may uncover! https://www.npr.org/2022/04/05/1090819310/mystery-recordings-will-now-be-heard-for-the-first-time-in-about-100-years?utm_source=eNewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=LPA_Update_20220412&utm_campaign=LPA
  8. This one’s for sale on reverb.com for $999,993, and $500 to ship it. WTF? https://reverb.com/item/13323928-the-tree-the-four-elements-the-element-wind-archtop
  9. I’ve never heard of this label before today. All of these recordings listed are live. Has anyone ever bought anything from these folks? https://en.thelostrecordings.store/collections/store?fbclid=IwAR18qXLQ7k3yn-JyjHYnF10b6BmaxmYORdTc7Oyn_kEyTwBjHaQw-k1X9Hg

  11. I have session. It is very good.
  12. First, any fans of Will Bill Davis? I've been digging his playing recently. Even the mellow stuff. I have all his sessions as a leader and those with Johnny Hodges too. What got me in the mood for his playing was a radio broadcast that was recently rebroadcast of French program called, "Les Légendes du Jazz, France Musique," with Eddie Lockjaw performed in Paris back in the mid 1970s. They're both killing it.
  13. RIP, Jessica. Thanks for the music.
  14. The great drummer Roy Haynes is 97. All the best
  15. RIP, Ron. Thanks for the music. Too young.
