  4. Okay--my turn. I have two to offer: 1) Andrew Hill - Point of Departure (not the RVG edition, fwiw); and 2) Reiner/Chicago Symphony Rimsky Korsakoff Scheherezade + Stravinsky Song of the Nightingale (Hybrid SACD Living Stereo) One per person - first PM for each takes 'em - postage-paid. Cheers!
  5. You get out of bed late one night to investigate a strange sound. Minutes later, you're cornered by several intruders and are beaten to death with your own fireplace tools. Yikes. I've had this thought before, actually, walking past the fireplace at night!
  6. I think you might want to make it a little tougher!
  7. Chris: Is it easy or realistic to get to Christiansø as a tourist? It seems like a wonderful place to spend a few contemplative days. Thanks!
  8. Happy belated, Dan! Hope you had a good one!
  9. 98 for me...but when you live smack dab in the middle of downtown Philadelphia, it's not too hard! Some property my family has in Oregon gets a 6 (but I learned about a restaurant I didn't know existed)!
  10. Oh man, Ed--this is great, great news. Appreciated exchanging pm's with you on the topic back when I was going through the same thing (around the same time), and I'm so happy that things have come out of the dark for you. Congratulations on the wedding, and best wishes for a long happy life together!
  11. PM sent on Secret Sessions box. Thanks.
  12. Nice! Will see you Friday or Saturday. Can't wait.
  13. Funny, Chris--that's my exact feeling. But what's funnier is that I just don't know _why_ I don't care so much. Perhaps it's because they stagger the games every two years, so there's no longer 4 years of anticipation, it just seems like the Olympics are "always happening"?
  14. All, In my recent move, I had a number of boxes shipped to Philadelphia. Very, very sadly, the box containing my complete set of Wax Poetics back issues, which I finally got around to opening this week, must have gotten dropped into a puddle...because almost all of them (and some books and other items) were completely destroyed. I know a lot of these issues are available from Wax Poetics itself, and many are out of print, but I thought I'd post this up to see if any board members have and no longer wish to keep any of these. The only issues I don't need are 25, 28, and 29--I'd like to re-create my set. I'm happy to pay for them (and for shipping)--so if you have any and want to ditch them, please drop me a PM or respond. Thanks!
  15. Okay, sending PM on Parlan, Monk, and Blakey while I'm at it.
  16. Dan - PM sent on The Complete Roulette Live Recordings of Count Basie - 1959-62 $175 and The Complete Blue Note/UA/Roulette Recordings of Thad Jones $60. Thanks. Peter
  17. The Sonny Simmons show will pale by comparison. I'm so there!
  18. I was on the fence about the Winterland box--but I do love the Godchaux years, and I'm guessing the general concensus is "must have"? I have had scattered bits of these on tapes of varying quality over the years...but for 9 bux/CD, seems like it's not really rocket science...
  19. Yo PhillyQ! Did you get my PM?
  20. Jones/Lewis Mosaic arrived yesterday and in way better shape than the description suggested! A great value, speedy transaction, and fabulous (that happened to be perfectly packed).
