Absolutely! I've had my eye on numerous vespae (!) over the years. NOT mutually exclusive!

Ed--given everything you (and I, parallel track) have been through, I'm just thrilled to hear about your experience. It mirrors mine. Will comment more later, but for now:

Hell yeah! Well, I think Lon knows I own a 1972 BMW R75/5. I've had this bike since the year I graduated and started my first job out of college, in 1993. A friend in the legal department of my company had cool black and white photographs of the bike in his office taken in the 80's when he was living in Boston. I was a heavy car buff at the time, and had driven a bike maybe three times in my life. The photos triggered memories of seeing a BMW motorcycle dealership in Portland (Oregon) in the mid-70's, and I'd since forgotten BMW even MADE motorcycles--so I asked him to see it. I stopped by his house, he started it, and asked if I wanted to take it for a spin. I of course said yes, and drove around for an hour learning how a motorcyle worked (he had no idea--fortunately I was able to get down the driveway and out of earshot before I started lurching through the gears). The next day he stopped by my cubicle and told me his wife was making him sell the bike because they just had a baby--and asked if I wanted to buy it for a ridiculous price. I jumped at it, and it's since been all around the country. Sadly, it's currently in storage in Seattle (with my goddamn record collection), but I'm FINALLY getting everything out here before summer and plan to keep racking up the miles. I'll see if I can find some pictures to post. Mark and Kevin, your turn!

Whoa--that sounds awesome. I wonder when it will happen (the performance)?

I was going to post about this--it's also on sale Via Laserlight. I found out about it because it was listed in the CD Universe email blast I received this morning. Additional Interesting Fact: Notes by Scott Yanow! Also only $5.99.

organissimo on the East Coast this summer
Peter Johnson replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Jim--looking forward to seeing you guys at Chris'. As to NYC, what about some of the more "off the radar" places--did you guys play at Kenny's Castaway last time you swung through here? What about Smalls? I don't really have any NYC connections, but can try to brainstorm. -
FS: Sonny Rollins Blue Note Recordings Box Set
Peter Johnson replied to Peter Johnson's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Up for... anyone? Should I estimate a price, or do y'all just all have this already? -
PM Sent on Jimmy Smith "Cherokee" and Holmes "AFter Hours". Thanks!

Thanks for bumping--I love these.

Hello all. I'm interested in selling my copy of this set. It's not a "traditional" box set in the sense that it has a separate booklet, etc.; rather, it's a collection of all of Newk's BN recordings (Volume 1, Volume 2, Newk's Time, Vanguard Vol. 1, and Vanguard Vol.2) in a slipcase. All appear to have been mastered by McMaster except for Newk's time, which was mastered by Yoshio Okazaki. I really have no idea what this is worth, although I suspect a bit more than the typical price for each "old" CD and a bit less than $90, the cheapest price on half.com. The CD's and cases are in near mint condition; the slip case has a bit of (normal) shelf-wear. The whole shebang is © 1997. Interest? Offers? Shoot me a PM. Thanks for looking!

Al, I might have some resources at the office that might be able to help. Check your pm's. Cheers, Peter

Firefox - anyone else been having issues lately?
Peter Johnson replied to Shawn's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I have been having major problems with it, to the point I'm convinced it, or it in combination with a website, fried (not physically, but file-structure-wise) my hard drive. It progressively froze up while loading normal sites, to the point where it crashed my system, and then my computer (mac) wouldn't start. I'd been updating it too. I will be very wary of using it again. -

Pretty damn funny. Thanks for the morning laugh! -
Hey Ron--did you get my PM? I believe the Art Farmer Mosaic Single "The Time and the Place" was recorded at MoMA, which still puts on jazz concerts to this day during the summer months. I saw Brandon Ross with Roy Haynes' son Graham on trumpet a couple of years ago. The Philadelphia Museum of Art still puts on jazz concerts YEAR-ROUND. I saw Eric Alexander with Harold Mabern there, and the Maria Schneider Orchestra, and some group called . . . ummmm, let's see . . . what was the name again . . . oh yeah, ORGANISSIMO!
