  1. Brownie, I hope you'll be able to see your way clear to a stateside trip. I'm sure you still have connections in New York, and there's always a place in Philadelphia if you wish! Cheers, Peter
  2. I have been trying to find this FOREVER. Does anyone have any leads?
  3. Bumping this up to say how thrilled I would be, and (presumptuous--sorry) how lucky we would all be, if this came to pass in one way or another. If Larry has the time, I say we take him up on his offer--assuming, given the information he gets from Jim, he still finds it an appealing role.
  4. Couldn't agree more. Good god, Larry moderating this place? Priceless. P.S. Paul, I'm sorry to hear about the job woes--had no idea. If live chat worked on my damn mac, I probably would have. Hope things work out--for the best. Peter
  5. I will as well--want Jim to get the whole works. I shall mail a contribution tomorrow.
  6. Absolutely willing to chip in $12/year, and certainly more, even on an auto-pay, recurring basis--no question. Really don't want to see the board go; I've been here since day one and check in almost daily. Regardless, my email is peterjjohnson[at]gmail.com I'll send that to Chris' alias as well.
  7. Grrrr...I can't believe you didn't give me a heads up about this! I keep forgetting to check the Tula's website.
  8. Some of you may remember, back in late 2004, that I was struggling with the idea of moving from Philadelphia to Seattle. My (then) wife wanted to come back because her family and friends are here; I wanted to stay because I couldn’t shake the feeling that the east coast was the “right” place for me—and I was scared to lose the diversity, friends, and access to cultural opportunities I had there. In the end, it made sense to go back to Seattle. Shortly afterwards, in ways sadly, and in other ways fortunately, the marriage ended, and there’s been some, but not a lot, of drama surrounding that, which I’ve discussed with some of you off the board. I’ve been restless and agitated in Seattle for over a year now, and on a recent business trip east I had the good fortune to have lunch with two partners in my old firm. Halfway through lunch I realized “oh my god, I have to go back”, changed the course of the conversation, and practically begged them to let me have my old job back. After a couple of weeks on pins and needles, I got an offer—and I couldn’t be more thrilled to cut this story short and report that I’ll be back in Philly by January—in time to meet up with Joe, Rachel, Ron, and hopefully other Phillyissimos for the Maria Schneider concert! Luke, my trusty (now 2 year-old) labrador companion (that's him in the picture), will be coming with me, of course, and I’ve got a road trip planned that will let him see more of the country than I have, and…damn, I just can’t wait to get “home”. Yeah, I’ve got to sell my house, and I’ve got to wrap up my practice, but I’m somehow not getting bothered by those details because I just know it’s the right decision. Thanks for listening—hope to see some of you along the way! Peter
  9. Thanks! How about ME, Ron? Too many damn lawyers around here, anyway. Especially Philadelphia lawyers. (big wink/nod to Ron. More news to follow.)
  10. f*ck your p's and q's, m*therf*cker. Welcome back, man. Good to see you here.
  11. What a great story--so glad she's on the mend. Wow, adults can and should learn a lot from kids' behavior.
  12. Man, I am loving this box. But does anyone have (forgive me if this is in the liners, but I didn't see it) the way to "program" the discs to get the order of the original album? Thanks.
  13. *shiver* stayed there once--absolutely disgusting. Checked out and switched to the plaza, cost be damned, just to feel "clean" again. Place needs to be demolished or gutted and redone.
  14. I'm on my way to NYC for some business and some pleasure--sitting in the airport right now winding down after spending the morning lecturing on "Family Wealth and Business Succession Planning" snoooooooooooze. Going to have a bloody mary after I slog through the morning's email, then head to the gate and tune in to whatever the ipod on shuffle brings me. Have a great weekend, everybody.
  15. I'll buy a board member's copy of the set (at the DG/amazon marketplace price) if anyone wants to sell it, so as not to have to deal with amazon marketplace, etc. PM me if interested.
  16. Nice. Bookmarked and ready to listen. Thanks for helping get this music out there, Chuck.
  17. One could, perhaps, travel from there to the road about 35 miles north of Portland off of I-5 called "Dike Access Road".
  18. Another vote for Philadelphia!
  19. Life has been..."interesting" since I moved back to Seattle, and I'm very, very, very seriously contemplating a move back to Philadelphia (even though I'm originally from Portland, Oregon, another terrific place) before too long. I fear I never really "took" to Seattle, and damned if I didn't always feel "at home" in Philadelphia. Something may happen before the end of the year, or very quickly in 2008...
  20. Dogs are wild this way. Luke, my big, dumb (not really, but he acts it), clumsy oaf of a labrador, who I got as a puppy after my wife and I split, displays crazy "nursemaid" tendencies. Whenever I cook (and I tend to be clumsy too), he's right there watching, waiting for me to cut myself with a knife (has happened more times than I can count)...when it happens, he always tries to come over and "make it better". He knows when something is messed up...very cool. He's all grows up now...Rachel, you will particularly get a kick out of how big he's gotten! Oops...photo's too big. will have to attach it later!
  21. Happy Birthday, my friend. Have a great one. Cheers, Peter
  22. Seriously. WTF???
  23. Does anyone know anything about these? SICP 10079(Hybrid) Hancock,Herbie(p)/Five Stars* 2730 SICP 10080(Hybrid) Hancock,Herbie(p)/Live in the USA* 2730
  24. Not much more to say than what's been said...all the best, Lon--happy birthday!
