  1. A nice Albarino for a hot labor day afternoon in the sun:
  2. The pleasure is mine!
  3. 30% off one item Enjoy!
  4. I would love to see this reissued.
  5. They would also do well to get rid of the plastic ferns!
  6. I have no idea what the implied downside is. Funky configuration of seats and stage? Ever been to the Village Vanguard? I think Tula's is great--it's the only authentic jazz club we got in this city. Definitely go see Hadley Caliman. He's a monster, and he'll definitely put on a good show. The last time I saw him at Tula's, Julian Priester (also teaching at Cornish) showed up and sat in on a few tunes!
  7. REALLY diggin' on Nat Adderley "A Little New York Midtown Music", ca. 1978, with Johnny Griffin, Victor Feldman doubling on acoustic and Rhodes, Ron Carter, and Roy McCurdy. Nothing "earth shattering", but a really enjoyable listen. It's got that late-seventies post bop vibe like "Eastern Rebellion". Recommended!
  8. No television since February--and life has never been better!
  9. Yes yes yes, the Crusaders box is indeed the shit! No individual CD's for those, though, and I had a hard time finding the records on wax. Same with the Gerald Wilson. That Crusaders Box set is definitely not overrated. I totally agree, the Crusaders box is definitely not overrated. I'd say it's probably underrated, definitely unique in a very good way. I'm into 4 of the big boxes at this point, The Crusaders, Hank Mobley, Horace Parlan and Stanley Turrentine. I really don't have the funds or required desire to spring for many (if any) more. I'd like to pick up the Gillespie box eventually.
  10. 3 for me (Anita O'Day, my first, Gerald Wilson, and Crusaders). I also find them overrated, and in fact, I want to sell the Anita O'Day one (PM me if you're interested!). I just prefer individual CD's, where possible. That said, I'm thinking about the Art Farmer set, having purchased three of his individual CD's, which I'm really enjoying, from Paul recently. What can you do.
  11. That is what I meant--confused because Ghost's post said, "I don't hold out hope for a lot to be published posthumously", leading me to think he had died. Hoping that's not the case. Thanks.
  12. I hate to sound completely ignorant, particularly as a) an English major, and b) one who loves Salinger's writing, but did he pass on? I feel as though I remember a fairly recent article about someone who tracked him down and spent time with him.
  13. Chris, is there _anyone_ you don't know?
  14. What Rachel said. Drill a hole, pour in the Stoli. Wait an hour. Cut, eat, enjoy!
  15. Haphazard...or..._intentional_ infliction? You didn't answer my earlier question: did you mention the class action lawsuit for infliction of emotional distress?
  16. Thank you, Jerry.
  17. Second order (No. 6131) placed on July 25, no word yet.
  18. Dammit, [Dan], I'm a [lawyer], not a doctor! Not exactly "tonsils" though clearly related. When my younger brother was about 5 years old he had to have his adenoids removed. If they were tonsils, they'd have said "tonsils". I also notice that the Wikipedia article says that adenoids are often removed at the same time as a tonsillectomy. Clearly not the exact same things.
  19. A/k/a tonsils. No first-hand knowledge, but check out wikipedia's article. Good luck.
  20. Love, love, LOVE Tintin--they never get old for me (35 now). Like others, I got one from the library (Flight 714) when I was about 12, and quickly saved my allowance to purchase the rest. I now have several in foreign languages, and other Tintin acoutrements, but I'll always love the books, and if I ever have kids, they're getting a full dose! Couw's plan is, indeed, a good one to follow.
  21. [xenophobic bullshit redacted] WTF, dude? Keep this kind of crap off the board. Scary sentiment, if real. Yikes.
  22. Another 30 heading my way. Damn. No more CD's for me for a long time.
  23. I've got 30 more sitting in my shopping cart and an itchy trigger finger. Damn... Go ahead, do it!
  24. Sure, if you wish to build a case... Initial Order No. 5536, placed 7/12/06 at 11:19 CDT Shipping notification received 7/17/06 at noon (with an order number of 12184, go figure) Received 7/19/06 30+ and the bill evans box Good luck. we here know that is not the case, but they insist that the message boards are wrong. if i can present them with order numbers of people who have actually received their cd's, they might see the error in their ways.
