Those are my favorite TV/DVD box sets. They named them in a confusing fashion. The first season (alll 30 minute episodes w/ Drake working for NATO) is boxed up as the complete Danger Man, while the remaining seasons (all one hour episodes w/ Drake working for British intelligence) are boxed up as the complete Secret Agent. Of course, the show was always called Danger Man in the UK and Secret Agent in the US, so this doesn't make a lot of sense. The 1 hr episodes are better, but the short ones are great, too. The storylines are great! Even the 30 min episodes have more sophisticated plots than most movies, but without being crammed. The production values were surprisingly high, as well. The only real weakness in the show was the producer's apparent unwillingness to hire Asians to play the rare Asian roles (this only affects two or three episodes). Instead they would dress up British actors in bushy slanted eyebrows and have them play a racist charicature with a ridiculous accent. Regardless, they are definitely both keepers.

I didn't care for the film, or Soderbergh in general*. Thanks again. *One exception: I forgot he made Sex Lies and Videotape until I looked it up.

John Thaw Thanks for mentioning this one - someone told me about this a long time ago, but I'd forgotten all about it. I think I'll get it with my next Amazon order. BTW, for anyone who cares, Twin Peaks Season II is being released in the US in April. It's out seemingly everywhere else this month.

The main reason I mentioned it is that equity analysts sometimes use this terminology, so I thought that may have been where .:.impossible picked it up. [Also, it can be a handy thing to know in certain interview contexts ].

Economically, you'd have to determine whether the additional workers increase or decrease the present value of the company's future cash flows. But I realize that you are getting at a different point with your question.
-
I don't know all that much about economics, but it sounds like what you are calling for here is inflation. Artificial increase in stock prices due to demand? No, it isn't inflation. Guy What is that called? A buying frenzy? I'm sure there's a term for it. I hate to contradict Guy, but in certain contexts, especially legal contexts, any excess in a stock's price above it's "true value" (the definition of which is invariably a point of contention) is called "inflation". In particular, if the hiring of new workers does not add value to the company but does cause its price to increase, then the hiring would be said to lead to "inflation" in the stock price.

I sure wish my neighbor would stop playing her "folk 'n" flute.

Lou Blackburn - Complete Imperial Sessions BLUE NOTE
J Larsen replied to Tjazz's topic in Recommendations
I found the sessions on the Blackburn collection to be a little rough around the edges. Not a bad disc, though. The playing is squarely inside, from my point of view, at least. -
Rotel now has a $200 model. I can't speak to its effectiveness, though.

Happy New Years! Just finished off a bottle of Vilmart champagne (which I recommend highly for NV), and am stepping out for the evening.

FYI, I've been able to talk them out of that fee the couple times I've needed to. May be worth a shot if it comes down to it.

Can't you make an electronic payment for the minimum over the weekend?

Stages? I may have the chronology mixed up. -

It would have to be the Can box, the Pere Ubu box or the VU box - no way I could remember which. -
I apologize for misinterpreting your remark. I'm glad it was a misunderstanding.

It is "sucky". It's a illusional/delusional "reality" that people buy into. It's a rationalization for simple, old-fashioned greed. And it has but one eventual outcome. Shareholders who value the notion of a "good-enough" profit that comes accompanied by things like long-term social responsibility and a respect for cultural values had better start speaking up loudly and immediately, before it's too late, if it's not already. WAKE UP!!! Wake up! is helpful and appropriate for a sleeping man, but useless for a dead one. That's an extremely stupid comment. I'm only pointing out obvious truths of pulbicly traded companies. At no point have I discussed my personal feelings. to you.

Blue notes on OTHER labels

Moto Grosso Feio. Not one of his better dates. -
I'm not passing judgment one way or the other, just stating the way it is. I may be wrong about this, but I'm under the impression that there was a time when the pressure to meet this quarter's earnings expectations was not so overwhelming. But I don't see how we're going to get back to that frame of mind (if it indeed ever existed). At the end of the day, spin-offs and leasing are the best solution, IMO.

Hmmm... I wasn't exaggerating when I said that the majority of my orders go "missing," but they are always replaced. I wonder if they are just being stolen in the mailroom.

Yeah, he's pretty high up though. I originally typed his title, but took it back in a moment of self-consciousness; again, I've never met him so I have less than nothing to brag about, just making a little conversation.

My uncle (whom I've never met) also works at Siemens.

FS/FT: Joe Henderson Milestone Years 8CD Box Set

I was just yanking your chain. -
Well the majors do often pay royalties and I suspect always pay songwriters. (The fee is set by congress!) And when American independants put a lot of time, money and effort into reissus such as the early Charles Mingus box from UpTown they are often ripped off by the likes of Lonehill and Proper. (Ask Nessus.) It's also not a matter of making a profit. It's a matter of making a larger profit than if you invested the money elsewhere. If you're not doing that, you are doing a disservice to your shareholders. I know that sounds like a sucky way of looking at things to many people, but it is reality. I certainly prefer to see bigger rather than smaller appreciation in the stocks that I own. Privately held labels don't have this constraint, which is why you see more product of interest to us coming from them.

Let me guess, she took the Evan Parker? Guy If she had, I think we would have been able to reconcile our differences.
