  1. I've ordered a couple of out of print CDs from them that they said that they had in stock and they didn't. I have not problems with them for in print stuff though.
  2. If you don't require a physical copy, you can download it in WAV format from Chesky: https://chesky.com/products/jazz-in-the-key-of-blue-jimmy-cobb-download And there's this: https://www.ebay.com/p/23046100473 But I don't trust the seller, Import CDs, all that much...
  3. Wayne Escoffrey at Scullers in Boston. Even vaccinated, this still feels weird given the large number of new cases around here. At least Scullers is requiring proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test prior to entry, so there is that.
  4. I'm a Harry Allen fan, so this one caught my eye...
  5. My wife was talking to a retired co-worker who had Covid a while back and she lost her senses for taste & smell. It's been several months. She tells my wife she really misses the taste of coffee. One of my co-workers got Covid last fall and lost his sense of smell & taste for a few weeks but it came back. I can't imagine if I lost my sense of taste & smell. My wine cellar would be pretty useless.
  6. Wow... it's been so long since I've been to Birdland. Has to be over 20 years now. How time flies. If my memory is correct, this picture was taken from somewhere in front of the bar?
  7. The Prestige Blues-Swingers featuring Coleman Hawkins - Stasch (Prestige/Swingville). Idrees Sulieman, trumpet; Jerome Richardson, alto sax, flute; Coleman Hawkins, tenor sax; Pepper Adams, baritone sax; Ray Bryant, piano; Roy Gaines, guitar; Wendell Marshall, bass; and Walter Bolden, drums. The guitarist, Roy Gaines, was an unknown to me. Mainly a blues guitarist, he only recently died (August 2021) and seems to have made a name for himself as a sideman. Fun record. I somehow missed this recording until @sonnymax started a discussion about these Prestige jam sessions. It's very good and I'm glad I was able to pick this up for around $25 for an older RVG pressing.
  8. "Base On Balls" is one of my favorite slow blues.
  9. I wonder how many of her fans listened to her advice? Actor and Anti-Vaxxer Kristy Swanson Hospitalized with COVID-19
  10. I've read the liner notes and still don't get the cover... did they miss the train and have to walk? Why does the bassist have to carry his bass but the drummer only carries his snare?
  11. PG Tips is the best tea - and it's not tea if it's not with milk & sugar, Except that Constellation Brands is trying their best to ruin the wine industry by being the leading producer of the blending wine "Mega Purple".
  12. I have a couple of bottles of Booker White in the fridge. I wonder if this winery will be affected by their recent influx of money from Constellation Brands?
  13. I always thought that Stitt was pretty good too.
  14. I just don't see a different between the Exact 3 and any other cartridge when it comes to playback. Why would this cart pick up more fuzz than any other cart? Are you sure it's tracking properly? Is the VTF set to 1.75g? On truly gummed up stylus tips, in the past, I would've used a cotton swap with isopropyl alcohol. I never soaked the stylus as they say that can weaken the glue keeping the stylus in place, but a gentle push with a cotton swab soaked in a little alcohol always did the trick.
  15. I got them Covid booster blues The not feeling-so-great but not dying blues Tell your friends, tell your enemies it ain't so bad Otherwise your surviving relatives might be feelin' sad I got them Covid booster blues
  16. Stan Getz - Billy Highstreet Samba (Emarcy). I've skipped over this in the bins for years and years. Today, I thought, "Why not"? Also, in the New Arrivals bin, they had a Christmas CD by Norah Jones. I enjoy a Christmas CD every now & then, so I picked that up too.
  17. People are ready to get sick & die because some person on the TV screen told them it was their god-given right as an American to refuse the vaccine. It's also within their rights to cross the street without looking in both directions, but you don't see them doing that. They are playing a strange version of Russian Roulette. Me? I'll choose getting a proven vaccine over getting sick & possibly dying every time. Every single time.
  18. Six is correct. I got my 2nd in mid-April so 6 months just passed.
  19. For some reason, I always think of the TV show "Bewitched" when I see this LP cover.
  20. Yes, obi wan. Thanks to sonnymax, I learned. And I bought.
  21. If you go to the Walgreens website to make an appointment, one of the selections reads, "Patient is 18-64 years of age and is at increased risk of COVID-19 exposure and transmission due to their work environment, based on individual benefit and risk". I qualify to check this. My wife qualifies to check this. We're both getting our booster shot. And as I said, it's not like there's a shortage of vaccines up here in Maine, so there's no reason to restrict booster shots for those that actually want one. Give it a try on the Walgreens website.
  22. I'm getting my booster specifically because the boonies of Maine are spreading the new variant like a wildfire. 620 new cases yesterday and 7 more deaths. The numbers are almost back to their peak levels in Maine, with many of them in rural areas with very low vaccination levels. Some counties are still only in the 50% range. About the only good thing is that it makes it easier for us to get a booster as these anti-vaxxers refuse to get it.
  23. The Prestige Blues-Swingers - Splasch (LP) & Coleman Hawkins - Bean and the Boys (CD) Has "Splasch" on it.
  24. I've learned that The Prestige Blues-Swingers "Stasch" session is on a Coleman Hawkins compilation called "Bean and the Boys". Who came up with this compilation? It has a bunch of Hawkins 78s from the 40s combined with the 1959 "Stasch" session, which is much different from that earlier material. I bet I picked this compilation up several times and put it back down, figuring I had the older material already and not realizing that the 1959 session was probably a good reason to pick it up.
  25. I'm getting my Pfizer booster Friday.
