  1. It's hard to imagine that if it was a different type of racial slur such as your scenario or a gay reference, the player(s) on the offending side would not have been suspended for the very next game and maybe even the remainder of the WS.
  2. The Dave Clark Five has a song titled "Because" and so do The Beatles. Fleetwood Mac, Motley Crue and Skid Row all did a "Rattlesnake Shake".
  3. It is believable. All you have to do is watch Hispanic TV such as Telemundo or Univision and you will see the humor is reminiscent of the 60s, 70s and 80s. You will see a lot of big teeth, men chasing women and plenty of silly costumes and caricatures. It's mostly Benny Hill, Hee Haw and Laugh In type stuff, so I can see how dude didn't think what he did as wrong. I am amazed though that Ozzie Guillen believes it is Gurriel that is the victim of racism for making a joke. How is someone like Gurriel every going to learn better when the old guard feels this way? Ozzie is a fucking clown though for saying that shit, he should have just left it at the dude doesn't know any better, he's fresh from Cuba.
  4. I had "My Blue Heaven" as my wake alarm ring tone for several years. RIP Fats and thank you.
  5. I think a lot of people felt this was going to happen, myself included. I'm still disappointed though. They came damn close to making the WS at least a year ahead of when most thought they wouldn't even make the post season. He'll be snatched up quickly if he wants to manage another team or get behind a microphone.
  6. Yeah, that is pretty classless. I read his teammates and management are saying they don't mind, but still.
  7. You're correct on the part of me replying to Page and "it's hard to talk about.." and my point was, for Paltrow she didn't seem to seem to have a problem talking about it, at least not to Brad Pitt, if all that is true. My main point though, is that she could have actually spoken up and out loud and perhaps drawn attention to the scum bag and protected the women subjected to far worse after her. Instead she went on to star in many movies affiliated with Weinstein. This isn't lack of empathy or understanding. It's me saying Paltrow looked the other way, like many other actors, directors, producers, writers, production assistants and politicians did. Hell, it certainly seems that some even helped cover tracks. His actions were obviously no secret and that is what I find offensive.
  8. I think Hinch hijacked your keyboard. Fuck it , if I'm wrong, I'm wrong but I say Yanks are going to overcome Verlander too. He's due.
  9. Only, in Paltrow's case she supposedly told Brad Pitt and as the story is told, he claims to have threatened a "Missouri whooping" if Weinstein continued. So....
  10. Hell yeah! They really put it on Keuchel tonight. I'm sorry, but I do believe the Astros are finished.
  11. I don't think that is what he is saying at all. This shit happens and has happened for years, especially in the movie business. It's part of jokes, hell, it's even referenced or portrayed in a lot of movies both comically and seriously. Now, that doesn't make it right or excuse it and I don't believe anyone is saying that. When we see a big star such as Gwenyth Paltrow come out and tell her story, isn't the natural reaction after 20+ years to ask, why did you wait so long? I get all the points about career, insecurities, money, and being afraid to speak up. But why applaud her now? It sure seems many women got it much worse after her and never achieved the success she has. She kept on doing the movies for him and shut the fuck up about all of it. How come nobody knew what was going on and why did it take so long to come out? Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that is what Dmitry is saying. As for the politics side of it. Maybe the guy never was "the king of hollywood" but he was part of it and an important to some and most definitely a popular and major fundraiser for many. Dude was pals with the Clinton's and according to Michelle Obama, " a wonderful human being, a good friend and just a powerhouse". I'm not implying she knew all of this was going on, but c'mon should we believe they were totally oblivious to the rumors and suspicions? For me, I say Fuck Weinstein. He deserves to eat every piece of shit put in front of him and then some. And Fuck Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck and all the others that in one way or another did nothing. My bet though is, no matter how bad this all gets, this is not the last we see of his involvement in movies or TV.
  12. Unbefuckinglievable! It was one hell of a series. I hope the Yankees can make it that interesting against Astros.
  13. It's nice to see the big hollywood stars that have either experienced this shit directly from Weinstein like Paltrow and Jolie or knew of this kind of shit going on like Damon and Pitt, are now speaking out. What fucking courage they have especially now that others, lesser known, have spoken up again and their own careers are firmly in place. On a side note two of my cousins (both female) on my mother's side worked for Weinstein, one as a VP of something and the other a publicist or VP of something else. We're not close so I don't know if they were victims or part of the charade.
  14. Based on next weeks preview it looks like the story line is going to tighten up some. I'm enjoying it but Maggie Gylllenhaal's character is exhausting.
  15. I met Grady Tate in Scottsdale AZ maybe 12-13 years ago at a hotel hosting a mini jazz festival. He was pissed that the hotel did not have cigarettes and it was too far to the nearest store that did. I was able to come through with cigs and in exchange for the favor he shared some stories and bought me a few drinks. Nice guy. RIP
  16. Severino was outstanding. Betances, a disaster. Sure, odds are in favor of Cleveland, but I really like NY's chances now.
  17. Yeah, a nail-biter for sure. It would be nice to see some real offense from Yankees tonight. Or, to have the game called due to rain.
  18. Definitely a great episode.
  19. Indians given a real gift with that shitty call. Shame on Girardi for not asking for the review.
  20. Probably, but there is always a chance the World Series will be called so all networks can cover an OJ Simpson pursuit on I-10.
  21. Yeah, not a fun game to watch from NY side of it. Odds are it will be the same tonight, but I'm holding hope for something different.
  22. D-Backs v Rockies was a fun game to watch. Can't wait for game tonight. I'll be disappointed if the Yankees lose the series but I can definitely live with Cleveland going all the way.
  23. Oh man, I hope this is true. Fucking dummy just can't help himself.
