  1. I must have been getting some of those mental messages. . . . Maybe I got one meant for Dick Cheny or something. . . . I had a dream about Dormammu a few nights ago. It was creepy.
  2. I'm tryin' but Disconforme is unhelpful. Offering the CD for 10.95 Euro then, when you hit checkout, you're redirected to Jazzmessengers.com, who are charging 11.95! The buggers! Are Jazzmessengers.com an American firm? If so, they'll hit me with big postage bills, too. MG No, jazzmessengers.com is a Spanish site I believe. . . it's European at least, not American.
  3. Dusty Groove has it. Someone buy it and give a report and make us all jealous!
  4. I see it that way, too... and I love the quartet, but still... if I listen to a Tyner solo as such, even in the context of the quartet and the overall great music, I often find nothing much in it that I like... the Garrison accompaniment is good, felt bass, sure, but the solos are totally off of the rest of the music, they don't have anything to do with what follows, just the poor guy who couldn't play loud enough needed to get his share of solo space, too, so he does his flamenco thing... true, when I heard one of those long intros for the first time, I was impressed, but it's just too much of the same for my ears by now... So back on topic: if "Cosmos" is that good and I also still miss "Expansions", I might eventually get the Select... Well, I just differ I guess. I like what McCoy does in the Quartet, especially some live spots, and I like him IN the Quartet a lot more than outside the quartet. And Garrison. . . he anchors that whole band, he's a huge centrifuge that keeps it all spinning but not flying apart, amazing talent in the Quartet and out. And there's much in those solos if you ask me, at least I hear quite a bit in the way he constructs them. I sincerely think that Trane knew EXACTLY what he wanted and he had it in these cats and Elveen. Without one of these ingredients, it wouldn't have been the same, and I've no complaints.
  5. BLASPHEMER! I don't agree about Tyner and Garrison in the Quartet, but you've the right to feel that way. I think they were necessary ingredients in the Trane stew, and their flavor was just the thing.l I like the "Cosmos" session best of the Tyners and have all the others on cd release so I too would rather see a single release!
  6. I think that the delay is not even real. Mosaic may have made an error in showing their hand on future projects so far in advance if people are tired of waiting! They've probably concentrated on other sets, and will soon turn to these. Would make good Xmas presents, maybe that's the plan.
  7. It's definitely not like Million Dollar Legs. It's traditional jazz quintet instrumenation, postMilesbop style.
  8. Hey, I'm the grandson of a banjo player and a fan of the banjo! This is a great record/lp!
  9. I snagged one from Tower. I confess that I've not heard these lps. I've heard later AE lps/cds and haven't been moved to become a fan. Maybe if I start from the beginning. . . If not. . .well. . . I'm sure I can find a home.
  10. Wow! Pretty releases! Two great pianists for this music!
  11. Ray, not really, but try this: http://www.vervemusicgroup.com/series.aspx...ob=bf&src=vault You can find them all, and you can open each page up individually and go to iTunes from the page for the title.
  12. "Magic of Juju" is 9.99. "World Galaxy" is 9.99
  13. Okay, "For Losers" is 9.99. "Huntington Ashram Monastery" is 5.99. Go figureth!
  14. Okay, they have been putting them up over the last hour, they all seem to be up now. I haven't yet seen the price for the Shepp, so far I've bought the Sanders and one of the Coltranes, the Sanders was 6.99, the Lord of Lords was 9.99.

    Why And How

I'm away from my collection right now, but I believe that the jewel case version may be from 2004 or 2005. . . I bought a copy a year or so ago and it was newer than 1999, part of the batch of MPS sides reissued like November Girl, More Smiles, Felini. . . Incredibly good sound. I could be wrong. If it is from 1999 there certainly is no reason to spring for the Japanese bucks for sonic reasons, only if you have an object worship fetish for lp facimiles!
  16. Well it's the thirteenth. . . . But still not available.
  17. I've seen footage of him with Teagarden and band. Seemed like "a good egg."
  18. Probably not hard to find the used or new cd either. I think it's longer.
  19. Become a participant in Monday Michiru's Artist Share program.
  20. Yes, there are some that are available from Rhapsody and Real Player, and some Real Player only, maybe some Rhapsody only. Realplayer doesn't work for me on my Macs. Rhapsody does, yes. . . . I think they must be aware of the free download thang on iTunes. . . .
  21. I like his stuff with the Basin Street Six. Really nice. Not sure if any of those are on cd. He's featured on one of the "Sound of New Orleans" volumes on Storyville on cd. This one, Volume 6, was on cd, I think it may be out of print currently.
  22. These usually are a few dollar cheaper the first few weeks of release so the Shepp may be about 7 bucks or 8 bucks, with a normal price of 10 bucks. If you don't have a Mac, you'll probably have to download iTunes, and from there you can store it as a download and can burn (I believe, I have a Mac iBook and a MacBook of my wife's now and a shared iMac, not sure how iTunes behaves on a PC) from the download.
  23. And it only took you about three seconds longer than I thought it would!

    Why And How

Dusty Groove has two versions of Midnight Mood available on cd, one in jewel case and one lp facimile, with a ten dollar difference in price between them!
