  3. Starting off the morning with some Joe. Just before I pressed play I heard an owl, which always seems a good way to start a day. Joe Henderson “Page One” Bluie Note Japan Platinum SHM-CD (mono mix) Featuring the famous “Etc.” (McCoy Tyner) This series of Platinum SHM-CD sound so good!

  6. UCCQ-5080 Donald Byrd “Ethiopean Knights” Blue Note Japan SHM-CD 2014 Forgot how “Milesian” this one is. When I see Ethiopian Knight this is what I think of.
  7. His first two as a leader on Blue Note were impressive jazz releases.
  8. My guess would be that it is indeed ANOTHER Gil Evans. Would Gil have then been in California?
  9. “Dave McKenna Quartet Featuring Zoot Sims” Chiaroscuro Records cd

  16. Count Basie “Fancy Pants” Pablo cd The last album Basie made with the big band. So elegant!
  17. Well, I don't ask questions for something that takes seconds for me to discover myself. That's just me. . . I'll generally answer them, but that may change.
  18. Immanuel Wiklins “Omega” Blue Note cd 600×600 32.4 KB Immanuel Wilkins on alto sax with pianist Micah Thomas, bassist Daryl Johns, and drummer Kweku Sumbry.
  19. Nuvens Douradas – Juarez Moreira Interpreta Tom Jobim Juarez looks a lot like my brother Lester. Nice disc!
  20. Red Norvo “Rock it for Me” HEP cd 550×544 60.2 KB Mildred Bailey is really great on these sides with Red. I keep being reminded of Billie Holiday when I hear Mildred, they both were pioneers of the microphone, allowing a more intimate, involving presentation.
  21. Another Ricky Ford. Ricky Ford “Tenor Madness Too!” Muse cd This one keeps revealing bits and pieces to me, in part because the muddiness of the sound causes me to seek out little details and in part because there’s a looseness to the performance that draws me in different directions. Followed by How come Ray Bryant was never the big star some other jazz pianists were? He had it all. Ray Bryant Trio “Now’s the Time” Signature/Dr. Jazz cd With Tommy Bryant and Oliver Jackson, 1960 1024×1024 66.3 KB
  22. Ricky Ford “Tenor Madness Too!” Muse cd This one keeps revealing bits and pieces to me, in part because the muddiness of the sound causes me to seek out little details and in part because there’s a looseness to the performance that draws me in different directions. A quick search would have found the answer on either wiki or discogs. March 4, 1989
