  1. Right. And "Free" is part of the Farmer-Golson Mosaic set, which has so many great sessions within it that it and the Jazz Crusaders box sets are among the best values available in jazz. "Things Have Got to Change" I really like and wish it were available domestically. I have a K2 Impulse cd from Japan, and the iTunes version is a digital clone of that.
  2. Sorry ASN, I wasn't quite awake yet. I have the cd version of that Master Jazz set. I would never NOT buy a Master Jazz session. This is a great set. I also highly recommend the Earl Hines cds that are NOT a part of this set (there is only one track shared) and the Roy Eldgridge, Jimmy Rushing. . . . Anything on that label I think is high quality jazz produced with a level head.
  3. Here's a link to the Mosaic website discography of the cd set. In print cd set discography on Mosaic's webstie I enjoy this set a lot, but I'm a PIANO LOVER. If you love piano and piano playing I have no fear you would like this one a lot. I can't imagine NOT being a piano lover, so I can't put myself into an objective stance to give a less biased opinion!
  4. Yeah. A good one. But then all my life with my mom's parents Welk was on whenever Welk was on. So. . . I'm not a real Weld detractor!
  5. That echo added sure was a bit much though!
  6. What, screw it if it doesn't come out! Oh ye of little apetite!
  7. Sounds like someone is sticking it to THE (Columbia) MAN!
  8. It's really great isn't it, and I love that they added that cool stuff to the original lp material!
  9. Agreed, nice session!
  10. Yes, yes. Sometimes Coltrane only turned up to 8 or 9 is just right!
  11. I like that Zurich a lot as well.
  12. Pete Losin's excellent Miles Ahead website seems to only list the Royal Jazz release, so I would bet that's all folks. . . . http://www.plosin.com/milesAhead/Sessions.aspx?s=600324
  13. The best sound I personally have heard on the Paris material is the Sony/Trema versions in those cool black digipaks. . . . I haven't heard the Laser Light versions though. . . . I don't know of any other release of the Copenhagen material, or of any extra material available. . . .
  14. Kevin, I don't believe any of these tracks on the Lonehill are from Copenhagen. "Den Haag" is in the Netherlands. (Correct?) Yet another attempt by Lonehill to confuse collectors into considering buying what they already have by shifting title and/or leader credits.
  15. These four were also issued on separate digipaks from Trema/Sony and sound pretty damned good.
  16. I agree, and the Stockholm stuff . . . second. Fantastic release that Dragon (or DIW)!
  17. Good question. . . I have heard the Jazz at Lincoln Center broadcast which is wonderful.
  18. These two have made it to cd in Japan: Brubeck, Dave Jazz Impressions of the USA Brubeck, Dave Southern Scene
  19. I really like the SACD sound of the four that I have. I confess I have not heard the cd layer. . . . I just pop the SACD into my universal player and listen to the SACD layer. Very very nice. Have an "ease" to the sound that I have not heard elsewhere.
  20. I agree. Really good performances though!
  21. Right. . . I bet that's a bitchin' dvd. The one in the Ultimate set though has some wonderful audio pieces.
  22. I've bought it too, and for the yourmusic.com price it is certainly a bargain. It is a great compilation, and the dvd is wonderful.
  23. This material has been out several times here and there, I last saw it as "On Green Dolphin Street" on Stash. There are also some extra tracks that were on the Yadeon "Rare Broadcasts" cd from Japan: tracks from the Tonight Show (Steve Allen version) and some Cafe Bohemia tracks.
