  1. Well I raced home. . . and no set! It's past the time that UPS usually delivers here. . .but then I don't usually get express stuff from UPS. I'm hoping it's not lost or stolen!
  2. And here's Ray Nance doing a Red Foxx move. . . .hmmmm. . . . .
  3. I don't dig that one at all. . . . started me on a "Nelson bugs me" spiral!
  4. I think that's a great cd. . . though i wish there were more depth to the recording itself.
  5. That's a killer Ray Nance lp. . . . I bet the cd sounds even better than the lp (I hope so as the lp is not a sonic wonder!) I wish they had combined "A Flower is a Lovesome Thing" with this one though. . . I think they would both comfortably fit on one cd.
  6. My set is due today too. . . . If only I could stay home! But alas it's not to be.

    I don't recommend using steel needles. . . .
  8. Beer kept Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations rolling along as well. . . was a large part of the food source.
  9. All those recent backordered RVGs shipped today. . . except for the McCoy Tyner. Whoo boy!
  10. Well, I personally don't find Krupa to be "amateurish"--he's playing to the crowd's love of flash, and he's generating a lot of excitement. I like Krupa, I like Webb, they're different players with different approaches and styles. The passage where it's mainly Goodman and Krupa playing. . . was that a first in a swing jazz performance? Sure it's not Trane and Elvin but it's different for the time.
  11. No doubt. Especially the MPSs. ← Actually, I'd love to see them gather up the radio broadcast material I keep reading about but not hearing!

I've gotten most of mine from Worlds. . . cduniverse as well, though they don't offer all of them for some reason.
  13. Here's hoping.
  14. All right Q! I really enjoy this box and you've described the variety and the highlights well! I think you would enjoy the Capitol box. . . there IS an affinity between these two. Both are great boons to jazz collecting from Mosaic. . . all that stuff in such great sound and in one place with killer annotation.
  15. Here's hoping yours is shipping soon!
  16. Gentlemen. . .check your order status. . . it may have changed to "Shipped."
  17. Well, unless they back order these and cancel them, we'll know soon. . . I ordered all but the Silver (have that one already).
  18. I've read that the Shaw does not have the software as well, due to length. I bet that BMG/yourmusic sells the discs with the software. . . why would they bother to make another edition?
  19. Dave, if you're new to The Band, I wouldn't spend the 70 dollars on this. . . I'd get "The Band" and see whatcha think.
  20. I don't know. . . I really like "Moondog Matinee." Maybe I'm just weird but it's fun and it's pretty well-executed to my ears!
  21. It's back up now!
  22. When the series first came out I was still reading Stereophile, and they mentioned he was then using dcs equipment.
  23. I'm not that keen on the Nelson set myself considering the material on it that I do know and my waning enthusiasm for that stuff. I'm not complaining about the Mosaic direction though; I like what they've been producing and I'm looking forward to their future choices.
  24. Pete is selling some excellent discs here! The Charlie Parker and the Private Dukes are highly recommended, especially at these prices! (That really goes for all of these).
  25. Right, I've read an interview with the engineer of the XRCD series from JVC who said he would not let a signal go near a Sonic Solutions deck---he said it immediately took on a "digital" character he was trying at all costs to avoid. I think there may be something to this. . . . I prefer the sound of the RVG (I haven't heard the Mosaic Select version).
