  1. Looks pretty cool! My Radial RL2 speakers have a forward firing ribbon tweeter and an upwards firing speaker, and give an amazing sound that I love. . . . I bet yours sound very cool! (Sort of my speakers, the RL1.5s that replaced them in the line)
  2. I just bought a really slick Sony dvd recorder/vcr. I want to use it to transfer videos of musical performances to dvd from vhs. This machine will use DVD+ and DVD- media. . . . I bought some DVD+ Maxell blanks and burned one two hour dvdr, really easily and successfully. I don't quite understand the difference between the + and - media and which may be the most practical both fiscally and operationally. If anyone can enlighten me, thanks.
  3. Saw this photo while listening to "You Don't Know the Shape I'm In" from the Last Waltz four cd set. . . Seemed oddly appropriate!
  4. well, all this makes sense and is not really surprising. I just wish I had not postponed burning the six cds of Acid Test material that was on line last weekend! That's really the last of the material I wanted to download that I hadn't yet!
  5. Cool, I've never seen the movie and I couldn't find CC listed with it in a quick search. Still my vote as the loveliest of avatars. Every avatar Elis has posted has been my favorite. Post more madamoiselle!
  6. He's going to like it!
  7. I've avoided this show. I like the busty scientist though. . . . She was a busty lawyer on Boston Legal and played about with James Spader.
  8. Just got the Blakey, Gordon, and Brookmeyer last night! Whew! I bet this has to do with the copyprotection. . . they may be back in noncopyprotected fomr? (I haven't checked those I receive to see if they are protected or not),
  9. Who is she? I believe that is Sandra Milo. The image in the avatar is from "8 1/2"
  10. YAY! Congrats!
  11. I didn't know about Donna singing backup for Elvis, but I sure did know about Ron Tutt touring with Elvis. Great drummer. I'm working my way through the set. "Dark Star" isn't one of my Dead benchmarks. I'm really enjoying the Pigpen on this set. I usually don't go nuts for Pigpen, but when he's really "on" and the boys feel like playing behind him, magic happens. Magic happens on some of these numbers on this set too because they get the tempoes just spot on. And I always scratch my head whenever they play "Doin' that Rag." Do they ever play that tune as if they really really really knew it?
  12. I agree with OD in his Donna assessment. She looks great in that photo was what I was really saying!
  13. Okay, Who has the loveliest avatar (right now)? It's no contest for me. . . it's Elis!
  14. Rick Margitza can PLAY. He's got it. I haven't heard these Douglas's but I've heard him elesewhere and he's not likely to disappoint.
  15. Cool photos! Makes me want to sing out "Oh Donna!"
  16. Katzman CAN play indeed. He was born in Chicago. Seems to me most of his work has been done with West Coast cats, probably from his Kenton affiliation.

Worlds Records is a wonderful company I feel. Yes you pay full pop most of the time. BUT they carry these speciality labels and usually have all the material in stock. And they can get items from Storyville and other labels about the same time as the original release and generally months before they are available from other US stores. On top of that, Ren Brown is a great person to do business with in all ways. They package wonderfully as well, and their shipping rates are good. That "Gift from the President" is a wonderful disc!
  18. Also I've begun listening to the Peter Green material in the Fleetwood Mac catalog again. . . forgot how he captured the B. B. thing so positiveiy when he wanted to. . . .
  19. I remember having those lps years ago and I don't have them any more. . . they're really fine. I have been listening to the Crown cd reissues on Ace and just have gotten "stuck" in that period of B. B. . . . I just love this stuff, and they're fine reissues in every way.
  20. Man, the sound is great on this one!
  21. I actually like the Copenhagen material, especially that released "at the time." I agree that a two cd set from Verve would have been great. . . especially as the LPR single disc reissue of the original lp material SOUNDS SO DAMNED GOOD!
  22. I'll just leave it as it is. I'll explain it to anyone who doesn't understand!
  23. That is a good site. . . I've browsed there and wished I had some of those bootlegs. I just think it's so odd that we now have THREE official box sets that basically have lots of the released stuff mixed with a little of the unreleased stuff.
  24. OH ME OF LITTLE FAITH! UPS pulled up ten minutes ago and I have it. Looks like a really cool set. No frills, you don't pay a lot, and you're not paying a lot for fancy packaging. Going to be a great weekend for listening!
