Red Norvo “Rock it for Me” HEP cd 550×544 60.2 KB Mildred Bailey is really great on these sides with Red. I keep being reminded of Billie Holiday when I hear Mildred, they both were pioneers of the microphone, allowing a more intimate, involving presentation.

Ricky Ford “Tenor Madness Too!” Muse cd This one keeps revealing bits and pieces to me, in part because the muddiness of the sound causes me to seek out little details and in part because there’s a looseness to the performance that draws me in different directions. 1200×630 129 KB Sonny Rollins “Freedom Weaver” Resonance Records 3 cd set, disc 1 I’ve long had this material in previous issues and it does sound a bit clearer and more vivid (and louder) here. Amazing music–Sonny was a true jazz force at this time.

In 1996 Blue Note had released a 3 cd set of material from the nights at the Lighthouse--the originally released material and some additional. https://www.discogs.com/release/4525810-Lee-Morgan-Live-At-The-Lighthouse Then years later, this most recent 8 cd set was released of the entire material recorded.
