  1. I sell or give away many duplicates, some I keep and compare. I have lots of time on my hands and I am interested in music playback. It's rather easy to google SACD if interested.
  2. Walter Smith III “Return to Casual” Blue Note cd
  3. I've seen the series a few times. If I had my druthers it would have been great if it had ended at the end of Season 4, and the final season didn't happen. I enjoyed that season least.
  4. Birthday boy. Hope his situation is improving.
  5. I can't help you, sorry. I had a few volumes on LP, and then bought all 25 two cd sets Storyville put out, which reissues all the Treasury Shows and also other contemporaneous shows to fill out the discs. That's a lot of music. . . but it's music I like!
  6. How many times have I bought “Ballads”? A number of times. Right before my wife “retired” and my finances took a nosedive I ordered this and “A Love Supreme” from the “Verve Acoustic Sounds SACD” series that Universal Japan has put out in SHM-SACD (non-hybrid) format. I’m breaking in a new transport and have a new amp that is almost broken in and later I’ll do some direct comparisons between other issues and this one but damn this sounds really good. Beautiful lp facsimile gatefold as well!
  7. No argument about Carmen. . . she had a lot more seasoning than Gitte did at the time.
  8. Grateful Dead “Here Comes Sunshine 1973” Disc 15, RFK Stadium
  9. I like both of these singers. Gitte's last name is one of my family names on my Dad's side (Americanized). She was a lovely woman when she sang with the Clarke Boland Big Band--that's a good one. I love Alice on this great cd:
  10. I’ve neglected this one too long. Great vibe for this early morning. And a version of one of my favorite Sade tracks. Dr. Lonnie Smith “Breathe” Blue Note cd
  11. "Falando de Amor: Familias Caymi e Jobim cantam Antonio Carlos Jobim" cd Finally found a good copy of this, wow!
  12. No, I got an MP3 version from a pirate site. That's all it's worth to me.
  13. The Dallas Dillies "We Think We're Cool" Ego Shmego Records
  14. There's also a 2 disc set of all previously unreleased material from this period, and the four discs altogether mirror the musical content of the truly lush Blossom Dearie Fontana box set just released. https://www.discogs.com/release/27667356-Blossom-Dearie-Discover-Who-I-Am-The-Fontana-Years-London-19661970
  15. I have the same box (on LP and CD) and I agree. I like Mabel a little. About as much as I like Sinatra, but then I am not a Sinatra fan.
  16. What a relief–I’m back to playing digital discs as a replacement transport I bought arrived a half an hour ago. I really missed my silver discs. Joe Henderson “Double Rainbow–the Music of Antonio Carlos Jobim” Verve cd
  17. 3m Ella Fitzgerald “The Duke Ellington Songbook” Verve 2 LP set, Record 1 There may be better pressings I’m sure, and I do have another earlier, but great music.
  18. I have a Japanese cd of the Paris. I like it--one of my favorites--tied with the Time Records release.
  19. Jackie McLean “It’s Time!” Blue Note The first LP from this box set: “The Complete Blue Note 1964-66 Jackie McLean Sessions” Mosaic Records 6 LP set 600×600 58.3 KB
  20. I agree that the mastering is a bit brighter than the Mobley, Henderson and Hubbard, but just a bit and it gives a sense of more detail. I have a new amplifier too which may be helping me to really enjoy this set. Such wonderful music! I've bought these sessions several times beforehand. . . I had no hesitation to buy them again to have the "Mosaic treatment."
  21. Indeed. I've come to the conclusion at this point in my jazz journey that all Teagarden is at least good.
  22. Grateful Dead “Wake of the Flood” Grateful Dead Records LP Haven’t spun this in quite some time, the second Dead LP I ever bought, and looking forward to the 50th Anniversary edition coming out on cd soon as it will include as the second disc what the vaults hold of the very first Dead show I saw, the second concert I ever attended as well. It was SOMETHING ELSE.
  23. ack Teagarden “Think Well of Me” Verve stereo LP The predominantly melancholy mood really comes through. Another great Verve recording. With all but one composed by Willard Robison and Don Goldie on board there is a lot to like.
  24. Gary McFarland "Soft Samba Strings" Verve LP
  25. Miles Davis “Friday Night, In Person at the Blackhawk, San Francisco” Columbia stereo LP
