As I didn’t get to complete the listening of this last evening (phone call . . . I’m beginning to hate phones again) . . . I’m re-listening.

A good thing. This is setting a nice tone for the morning.
I’d love to have one of those Barney Kessel Gibsons!
This is one funky disc.
Boogaloo Joe Jones “Right on Brother” Prestige RVG Series Japan cd
Charles Earland! RUSTY BRYANT!
I’m playing this one again, the second disc. I especially like the pizzicato sections. Hard to believe “These are Soulful Days” is his first composition for strings.
James Brandon Lewis “For Mahalia, with Love”
The second disc of this release, Lewis on tenor with a string quartet, the Lutosławski Quartet–my favorite of the two discs. Challenging, emotional . . .lovely!

Monday Michiru “Routes”
This one will test the resolution of your system.
One of the first ones that I heard of hers and got me into collecting her work.
I love her lyric writing. And she is so lovely.
Thanks for sharing that about your father playing "Another Dimension." I've not encountered anyone else with an early experience with that LP. I really like that LP.
Up early with Fiona the dachshund. Re-visiting this exciting recent reissue.
John Coltrane Eric Dolphy “Evenings at the Village Gate” Impulse SHM-SACD Japan
Starting off with some Carmen. Her voice reminds me of that of “the one that got away.” I love her singing!
Carmen McRae “Song Time” Hindsight Records cd
Kenny Burrell with Coleman Hawkins “Bluesy Burrell” Moodsville/Prestige RVG Edition Japan cd
A young master with an older master and that Moodsville vibe. Just what I needed right now.
Abbey Lincoln “Abbey Sings Billie Vol.2” Enja/Solid Records Japan cd
Nice soundtrack for watching the snow melting off the autumn leaves through the second floor window behind my stereo system.
