1. Barney Wilen "Essential Best" Venus lp facsimile cd Yeah, I have all this material on their original releases. But it's a nice selection and sequence and I wanted to hear this this morning. I never get enough Barney.
2. Sounds fantastic as well.
3. Awesome! I've been breaking in and enjoying this new amp: https://www.decwareproducts.com/sarah
4. For me a desert island disc, her final studio recording. A masterpiece! Betty Carter “I’m Yours, You’re Mine” Verve cd
5. “Miles at the Fillmore – Miles Davis 1970: The Bootleg Series Vol. 3” Disc 4 “Saturday Miles” This box set was an answer to prayers as “Miles Davis at Fillmore” has been a favorite and staple of my listening world for fifty years and was heavily edited for release. This is all four sides of that release, completely unedited for the first time officially.
6. “Russ Freeman/Richard Twardzik Trios” Pacific Jazz/EMI Superbit Jazz Classics LP facsimile cd 600×600 100 KB A nice piano trio(s) disc to start off the day. Both pianists are different, but fit well together on one disc.
7. Antonio Carlos Jobim “Stone Flower” Legacy cd Partially playing to evaluate how the system is sounding now in regards to transport and SEWE300B break in and partly playing because I love this album and it for me what I think a great cocktail is for some others. Sounds great!
8. For me 2 and 3 were great. It's just 5 that was so. . . forced .
9. One heckuva band SFJazz Collective “Live 2009–Works of McCoy Tyner and New Compositions” disc 1
10. Blossom Dearie “Blossom Time at Ronnie Scott’s” Fontana/Universal Japan SHM-CD Sounds much nicer than the earlier cd version I have of this one. I love one of the introductions here. “My mother doesn’t know that I’m out late and singing in nightclubs. . . she thinks I’m still in jail.”
11. Chick Corea “Remembering Bud Powell” Sad to realize Chick and Wallace are gone.
12. Cal Tjader “La Onda Va Bien” Concord cd 599×610 105 KB
13. The Texas Rangers "Off Duty Drinkin' Songs" including the big hit "Drop it Now."
14. It's really good. I love his singing here, and his trombone solos are strong. I truly love Jack's work as a sideman in the 'twenties through the 'forties. I like the Big Band material but don't listen to it often, but the Verve and Roulette at the end of his life are really wonderful.
15. Jack Teagarden “Mis’ry and the Blues” Verve cd World weary near the end of his life performance from Jackson. . . . I love the work Mr. T did early and late and it’s too bad we lost him when we did–we could have had a few more decades perhaps. This cd sounds best with “Phase” inverted to me.
16. John Hicks “John Hicks” Evidence cd With Bobby Hutcherson, Walter Booker, and Olympia Hicks
17. The Complete Louis Armstrong Columbia and RCA Victor Studio Sessions 1946-1966 Disc 7, “The Real Ambassadors” “The Real Ambassadors” gets short shrift but it’s an interesting album.
18. We owe you so much! Happy birthday Pops!
19. Milt Jackson "In a New Setting" Limelight/Verve cd Starting the morning off with some swinging "bells" . . . . 21. Jefferson Airplane "Surrealistic Pillow" Mobile Fidelity SACD Working on getting a great mono "image" on my system and this SACD is helpful. And I wanted to hear this blast from the past.
22. Miles Davis "Someday My Prince Will Come"Analogue Productions SACD
23. Cannonball Adderley "Somethin' Else" Japan 24Bit by RVG I first heard "Bitches Brew" in '72 after hearing "Filles" and "In A Silent Way," I fell in love with it entirely and I've played it ever since in various incarnations--LP, tape, CD, SACD. I love this music. . . .
24. Miles Davis "Bitches Brew" Mobile Fidelity Labs SACD disc 2 It's time to listen to this pillar in my jazz listening world to see how the system is doing with new elements. Have to say. . .sounds fantastic.
