  1. Do the eenee meanee minee mo game.
  2. I take it to mean that there have not been a re-presentation of the material of these 'fifties sessions, little of it presented again until now. How accurate that is. . . I'm not sure. A look at the discography on the Mosaic set (easy to do right?) shows yes, though there are three sessions where Hank Jones is the pianist, and three where John Lewis is the pianist.
  3. “It’s so Peaceful In the Country” is a fitting song for me today. A nice change of pace. . . I haven’t listened to June with full orchestra in some time. June Christy “Gone for the Day” Capitol/Universal Japan LP facsimile cd 2022
  4. Starting off the day with some funky swing. Donald Byrd "Mustang" Blue Note Universal Japan UHQCD Great album with McCoy Tyner, Sonny Red and Hank Mobley.
  5. Thanks Joe. Nice to know this is out there.
  6. Jeri Southern “Live at the Crescendo” Capitol Japan lp facsimile cd 2022 I asked Michael Cuscuna some time back if we might ever see it--he said no. I surmised it was because it was a Phil Schaap production about to be launched when he was canned from Columbia. I think the additional material was likely a recording of a performance or a rehearsal.
  7. Donald Byrd "Free Form" Blue Note Universal Japan UHQCD followed by I love this recording. So much fun. A performance was broadcast on TV in the days before videotape and so far no one has found a Kinescope and put it out–I’d love to see it. Also Columbia/Sony had a 2 cd reissue planned and even advertised. . . that they ended up never releasing as the producer was let go from Columbia. A huge shame! I’d love to hear the extra material! Duke Ellington “A Drum is a Woman” Columbia France cd. European alternate cover. 598×600 94.3 KB
  8. Donald Byrd "Blackjack" Blue Note Universal Japan UHQCD
  9. I've pre-ordered, as I have ever set for about a dozen years. Kevin, I think it's because you paid by credit card, I've used PayPal for many years and get email confirmations right away.
  10. New release from last week, both a US and a Japan release simultaneously--I got the Japanese. Donald Byrd "Live" Blue Note Universal Japan SHM-CD. I like this more than I thought I would.
  11. Donald Byrd "Tryin' to Get Back Home" Blue Note Universal Japan UHQCD UCCU-45068 This not a really popular title but I've always liked it, and am happy to see it reissued. 12. Santana "Caravanserai" Sony 7" SACD with stereo and quad mix This was just released and sounds fantastic (I am only playing the stereo layer). I have the Mobile Fidelity SACD as well, which also sounds fantastic. This one is perhaps a hair more dynamic and a bit crisper sounding.
  13. Yes. https://www.discogs.com/release/2814035-Miles-Davis-Quintet-Complete-Live-At-The-Blue-Coronet-1969 Like the Sleepy Nights mentioned here I think this too is a bona fide bootleg, not a "gray market" release.
  14. Elvin Jones "Revival: Live at Pookie's Pub" Blue Note Japan UCCQ-1175 SHM-CD disc 1
  15. Rudolph Johnson "Spring Rain" Black Jazz/Real Gone cd
  16. One of the very last recordings of Jackie & Roy, "The Beautiful Sea: songs of Sun, Sand and Sea." A very pleasant and warm listening for this winter morning.
  17. Wednesday Miles/Thursday Miles (disc 1)
  18. The individual pages for these items do have copies listed for sale!
  19. My two cents which really amounts to not more than a guess: no, these are not official releases, they are essentially bootlegs. The interesting thing is that discogs.com which in general does not allow for the sale of bootlegs on the site DOES allow sales listings for this label, though at the same time they indicate in the description "unofficial release." Confusing, but it is hard to conclude these are authorized releases as there are no indication of licensing or approval.
  20. To me Sonny and Bob are equally important artists, worthy of these sort of books. But I don't have books on my coffee table and don't have an opinion on either.
  21. Miles Davis "Miles Smiles" Sony Blu-Spec CD2
  22. Thought you would get a chuckle.
  23. The Dan Gould Quartet featuring Percy France "3 Sounds 2 Crazy"
