Cootie Williams "1945-1946" Chronogical Classics cd
Picked this up last month--haven't heard most of this ever before. It's rougher around the edges than the Ellington Orchestra and a bit more R&Bish. I'm digging it.
Peggy Lee "World Broadcast Recordings 1955" Audiophile Records, 2 cd set, disc 1
Could wish for a bit livelier mastering perhaps, but I love Peggy during this time period a lot, and this is good stuff.
Jose James "Yesterday I had the Blues: the Music of Billie Holiday" Blue Note Japan SHM-CD (2022 reissue)
This is one of those rare releases that I didn't think I would fall in love with when it was first released but I did and I still think it's both a great slab of music and a great recording.
Hardly got any listening in over the holiday and yesterday because my wife had a lot of time off and had a long list of things for me to do. Got most of them done.
Starting off with a favorite I just can't keep out of the player for too long.
"Secret Ellington"
Now onto a release by Raulzinho I did not know of til last week!
