  1. You're right, he is a master.
  2. Big cliffhanger, long wait.
  3. Some quiet music as the rest of the house sleeps. “The Complete Master Jazz Piano Series” Mosaic Records, cd III. I like this set and this is perhaps my favorite disc, featuring Jay McShann, Teddy Wilson and Cliff Smalls. Followed by Keith Jarrett “The Bordeaux Concert” ECM
  4. I don't visit this box set often mainly because I have better sounding (to me, in my systems) versions of the material I listen to most in the set than the sound in this box set. But I don't quite share your dislike of the material. And to set the record straight there are no sides from "Get Up With It" from this set--all those sides were recorded later than this "period" of Miles Davis' New Directions in Music. There are three tracks that made it onto the original "Big Fun" release (and two that were added for some reason--they don't really fit to me--to the later cd reissue) and one studio track from "Live/Evil" is included on this box set.
  5. Marian McPartland "Live at Yoshi's Nitespot"
  6. Yes, I've become quite a fan. I used to think "the earlier the better" but some of their latest ones are killer!
  7. Jackie & Roy “Spring Can Really Hang You up the Most” Black Lion cd I am really enjoying revisiting Jackie & Roy. This one is notable as it has Barney Kessell on board for a few.
  8. Norman Royal "Shake on that Pole Baby!'
  9. I just love Jobim and find different interpretations very intriguing. I have the entire Songbook series and really appreciate the five discs; play them often enough to merit having them. This one eluded me, I had a cdr copy from an absent member, but found a barely used copy of this 2 cd set at dustygroove this week for 19 dollars. Quite happy. I don't stream; never has sounded as good to me without real re-investment, I'm not going to do that. Right now Joel Ross is one of the new artists in jazz I have been following with great interest. Joel Ross "The Parable of the Poet" Blue Note cd
  10. Antonio Carlos Jobim “Songbook Instrumentals” 2 cd set I’ve been looking for a reasonably priced copy of this for some time (I have a CDR copy) and finally did at Dusty Groove. Great set for Jobim fans.
  11. Henri Bernard Gauthier "Chicago was my Home"
  12. I wore my "Cornbread" T-shirt today so it seems fitting to spin this one.
  13. The set was released in 2016. I think all the material was recorded between 2005 and 2007.
  14. Pharoah Sanders “Welcome to Love” Complete Edition, Timeless/Solid Records Japan 600×598 83.8 KB Continuing the mellow music for today.
  15. Interesting! Thanks for posting. At first I read it as "Betty Carter" and got really excited. I'd love to have a lot more Betty Carter to listen to.
  16. “Jackie & Roy: Forever” Music Masters cd Forgot how nice this one is
  17. I pre-ordered the five cd set. Will be interesting to hear the remix.
  18. Tommy Flanagan Trio with Kenny Burrell “Another Beyond the Blue Bird” Timeless/Solid Records cd Japan
  19. Actually it was on cd in 1987 in Japan, in 1988 in US and Europe, in 2005 in US and Europe, and again 2011 in Japan.
  20. Bill Evans “Live at the Keystone Korner 1980 Vol. 6” Timeless/Solid Records cd Japan (material from "The Last Waltz) This disc sounds really good.
  21. Peggy Lee “If You Go” Capitol/Universal Japan SHM-CD 705×711 62.4 KB Blue ballads to watch the snow fall by.
  22. My pick
  23. Lee Morgan “Complete Live at the Lighthouse” Blue Note Japan UHQCD edition, disc 3
