  6. Charles Mingus "Bremen 1964/1975" Sunnyside 4 cd set, disc 3 The opening disc of the 1975 show. Sound exceeding my expectations! Charles Mingus and his recordings were an early jazz fascination. In the last decade I have listened to his work less often, and I'm not sure why. But I can correct that. . . .

  14. Maysa "Barquinho" Music from Brazil, 1961 . . . a fabulous singer. A fellow jazz board denizen turned me on to her and this is my first exposure, and won't be my last.
  15. "The Complete Sonny Clark Trio" 24Bit by RVG Complete Series 2 cd set, Japan. Disc 1 Sonny Clark. . .sounding his most Bud Powell-like to me. I really like the sound of this edition.
  16. This is what I found: Lennie's-on-the-Turnpike (P) soundtrack Info All The Things You Are (Kern) Peggy's Blue Skylight Take The "A" Train (Strayhorn) Secret Love Portrait unknown title Personnel Lonnie Hillyer - trumpet except 4 Charles McPherson - alto sax except 4 John Gilmore - tenor sax except 2,4,5 Walter Bishop - piano except 1,2 Charles Mingus - bass, piano, vocals Dannie Richmond - drums Date and location November 1966, Lennie's-on-the-Turnpike, Peabody, Massachusettes (1-5) and November 21, 1966, Mingus's loft, New York City Comments The soundtrack of the film Mingus also includes excerpts from the 1960 recording of "Half-Mast Inhibition", the 1962 Town Hall 'Freedom', and the 1965 UCLA 'Don't Let It Happen Here'. https://mingus.onttonen.info/leader.html And also: https://www.openculture.com/2012/08/charles_mingus_evicted_in_1966_film.html Seems that tune is only recorded at this performance at Lennie's by Mingus . . . ?
  17. In my house it's "Come Rain or Come Shine"
  18. Miles Davis "Sketches of Spain" Mobile Fidelity SACD
  19. I think the sound won't be much different, it seems inherent in the recording itself. Coll album none-the-less.

  22. Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald “Cheek to Cheek–The Complete Duo Performances” disc 3 730×661 So much to love in this set. The joy these two can and do project! Very good mastering imo as well.
  23. Miles Davis "More Music from Carnegie Hall" Sony Japan 20 bit lp facsimile cd. This is the best sounding version of this material I have. This was quite a performance that night--Miles was ON.
  24. Carmen McRae "Mad About the Man: Carmen McRae Sings Noel Coward" Decca Japan cd I bought this from a fellow named Rob who is no longer with us. Thinking of him, he was an avid collector of jazz vocal albums and a very nice man. Missed!
  25. SFJazz Collective "Wonder: The Songs of Stevie Wonder" A studio recording of material from their Wonder tour. Very nice.
