  1. "Gil Evans & Ten" Fantasy SACD. This is the first time the material has been issued in stereo. Sounds awesome.

Ha! That was done so clever-Lee.

I share your appreciation of "John Wesley Harding." That release has grown in stature in my estimation over the decades. And I have to say the stereo and mono Mobile Fidelity SACDs sound fantastic.
  4. John Dennis "New Piano Expressions" Debut/OJC cd John Dennis, with the incredible team of Mingus and Roach and solo piano pieces.

I doubt that the notes will contain that, who knows, maybe. This is a re-packaging of the "limited to 100 copies" 1970 Copyright Set that came out last month. It's very attractively priced too, I'm looking forward to it.
  6. Wynton Kelly "Piano Interpretations" Blue Note Japan 24Bit by RVG cd (only presents the originally released material, not the 11 alternates on the US cd) Followed by Jackie McLean "Capuchin Swing" Analogue Productions SACD. This time it's the SACD. Mellower sounding than the 24Bit by RVG version. I can like them both.
  7. "The Complete Roulette Jack Teagarden Sessions" Mosaic Reords, disc 3 A very different set of music than the predecessor, but man I love this stuff. Jack is such a joy to listen to. Don Goldie is so good with Jack, and Don Ewell, wow.
  8. Miles Davis "Dark Magus" Sony Japan 2 cd budget release. Sound is pretty darned good.
  9. The 3 Sounds "Here we Come" Blue Note Japan 24bit by RVG cd This is one of my favorite 3 Sounds releases. Great choice of tunes. Just right for tonight.
  10. Jackie McLean "Capuchin Swing" Japan 24bit by RVG cd. In previous incarnations of my system I did not like this version of this release. But it sounds pretty good today.
  11. Bobby Hutcherson "Farewell Keystone"
  12. I think mine might be the Collector's Edition of the Bob Dylan Bootleg Series volume "The Cuttting Edge." I certainly didn't need the 7" singles, the leopard skin 45 adaptor, the other ephemora in there, and did I really need all the discs of take after take of the material in the box set? No. And it was expensive. But I have enjoyed owning it, I assure you.
  13. Sorry to read this. What an awful disease and so scary how the infections keep spreading and overwhelming medical assistance. And these post-recovery problems and re-infections are disturbing. I am worried every day for my father.
  14. Dale Fielder "Free Flow"
  15. SFJazz Collective "Original Compositions and Works of Herbie Hancock" disc 1. This is fast becoming one of my favorites of their many great releases. I think it's because of Rene and Bobby. Alto Saxophone, Flute – Miguel Zenon Arranged By – Gil Goldstein Bass – Matt Penman Drums – Eric Harland Piano – Renee Rosnes Tenor Saxophone, Sopranino Saxophone – Joshua Redman Trombone – Andre Hayward Trumpet – Nicholas Payton Vibraphone, Marimba – Bobby Hutcherson
  16. So sorry to hear that Dave. This is such a hellish disease.
  17. I have received Blue Note cdr from amazon that weren't described as such, thus my hope that is not the case here.
  18. Well good. I hope it doesn't turn out to be cdrs. . . .
  19. Bob Dylan "John Wesley Harding" Mobile Fidelity Lab SACD, Mono
  20. SFJazz Collective "Original Compositions and Works of Herbie Hancock" disc 2. Each year this band has a new flavor. I sure like the flavor of 2006. Alto Saxophone, Flute – Miguel Zenon Arranged By – Gil Goldstein Bass – Matt Penman Drums – Eric Harland Piano – Renee Rosnes Tenor Saxophone, Sopranino Saxophone – Joshua Redman Trombone – Andre Hayward Trumpet – Nicholas Payton Vibraphone, Marimba – Bobby Hutcherson
  21. It has always stood out for me as yet another New Direction Miles explored. A friend of mine makes a convincing case calling this the "Prog Rock Miles Davis" album. And what also is noticably different is the recording placement of Tony and Herbie, which draws one's attention to them in part because they are usually recorded in a mirror image to the listeners' perspective. Each of these compositions are portraits in a new way in Miles' work. "Country Son" I sometimes think of as a piece reflecting Coltrane. Tony is a bit Elvin in spots and Herbie is very very "on."
  22. Charles Mingus "Mingus Dynasty" Sony "Jazz1000" cd
  23. "Jelena Ana Milcetic aka Helen Merrill" Verve cd Accordion – Dominic Cortese, Gil Goldstein Arranged By – Gil Goldstein, Torrie Zito Cello – Jesse Levy Double Bass – George Mraz Drums – Terry Clarke Electric Piano – Torrie Zito English Horn – Dennis Anderson Guitar – Jeff Mironov Harp – Gloria Agostini Martin Davies Oboe – Dennis Anderson Percussion – Steve Kroon Piano – Gil Goldstein, Sir Roland Hanna Soprano Saxophone – Steve Lacy Vocals – Helen Merrill

    Mingus in Mono

I don't have the Mosaic set either. But my guess is these will equal or surpass that in sound quality.
