  1. I know a woman named Naima. . . named so because it's a name in her family. She's a follower of Islam.
  2. Donald Byrd "Byrd Blows on Beacon Hill" Transition/Toshiba Superbit Jazz Classics cd, remastered by RVG
  3. Pharoah Sanders "Summun, Bukman, Umyan" Impulse Universal Japan SHM-CD This new SHM-CD from Japan sounds so good!
  4. Thanks. I know from the past two months it won't be speedy but I am hoping it's a recovery.
  5. Thanks gentlemen. We're hoping.
  6. I wish we were about to turn the corner, but I think we have even worse roads ahead of us, more deaths per day than ever, before we can see a slowing. Things will get better operationally as far as vaccine and information and preventive measures now that we have a different administration at the helm, slowly. Slowly. My father is not recovering well, even though he never had the pulminary blitzkrieg that takes down so many. I fear we may lose him . . . it's getting hard to remain hopeful as he takes one step forward and two back. My heart goes out to so many struggling with this. . .and both patients and family members unable to be together it's particularly saddening.
  7. Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers "At the Cafe Bohemia, Vol. 1" Blue Note Japan 24Bit by RVG cd. This is the stuff. A friend of mine calls this "the band of leaders."

  9. Continuing on with the beautiful music of Tom Jobim. This is a 2 cd set of solo piano renditions of Jobim works, reverently and often sedately played as if this were Chopin or Satie. . .which is a very fitting treatment for this beautiful music. My listening companion Fiona the miniature red dachshund loves this. Fabio Caramuru "Piano – Tom Jobim Por Fabio Caramuru" disc 1
  10. Fernanda Cunha, "Jobim 90" When there is snow on the ground--and there are about 3" right now--I often reach for Brazilian music to lighten and warm my mood. This is a very nice album of excellent Jobim music interpreted by a great, mature vocalist and a tight band.
  11. Onzy Matthews "Mosaic Select" Disc 3 I used to be lukewarm on this set. . . It's starting to simmer for me the last few spins.
  12. Since I seem to be doing LP facsimile cd releases today it's back to this one because it is fitting for a mood uplifiting. Clifford Brown "Jazz Immortal" SuperBit Jazz Classics cd, Toshiba Japan
  13. Followed by "Miles Davis at Carnegie Hall" Sony 20 bit LP facsimile cd Unfortunately not as well recorded as it could possibly have been but an exciting performance.
  14. Cannonball Adderley "Somethin' Else" Blue Note Japan 24Bit by RVG cd I love this music--a unique Blue Note release.
  15. I use a Groovetracer record weight (not a clamp) with my Rega turntable. I too like the added step to the "ritual," and I think it sounds a bit better using it--which I only mention because my wife thinks so as well, and she has no dog in the hunt.
  16. Sneaking in a headphone listen while my wife gets a nap in before the game. My best headpone cable lost a channel a few months ago and its builder (ArticCables) offered to repair it for free and actually replaced the whole assembly and I got the cable back yesterday. It's not subtle what this cable does to the sound. . . nice to have it back. Listening to Clifford Brown featuring Zoot Sims "Jazz Immortal" TOCJ "Superbit Jazz Classics" cd remastered by Rudy Van Gelder
  17. But the Mobley Mosaic cds don't indicate that Addey did the transfers.
  18. Open the window and let that bad air out.
  19. That's one of the stale excuses.
  20. I think the fuel for this is the fact that the Mobley set did so darned well. This likely will too. For a company aiming to stay afloat this seems promising. It's so hard to please long time connoisseurs that why should they try. These connoisseurs just come up with fresh or stale reasons not to buy.
  21. It is likely to share sonic similarities to the Mobley as I suspect they will share transfers done at about the same time--my guess is that these are transfers that were done for the Japanese 75th Anniversary series. If Addey masters these the similarity will probably be very close.
  22. It actually sold in 24 minutes.
  23. I came up with the price by my own bootstraps. I have been finding these with careful searching and patience from 10 to 18 dollars and decided that I wasn't intending to gouge anyone and mailing a bundle is cheaper and saves me time so came up with this price as a good deal for the buyer and an okay price for me--turned out to be good enough to make a sale in hours. I've got all but about 50 of this series so far. I won't pay these exorbitant prices and I won't sell at an exorbitant price.
  24. I've listened to the whole set once, and several discs twice. It's a good set!
