Carmen McRae "Haven't We Met?" Mainstream/Solid Records Japan cd I love this woman's singing. Though I prefer her with a small combo, this is a nice big band date where she really responds to the big sounds backing her. Her phrasing was so nimble yet solid. And I'm not a big fan of vibrato but hers I dig a lot

Earlier this morning I listened to the Sonny Rollins tracks from this LP added to an Essential Jazz cd that included the "What's New" LP. These sides recorded at the Music Inn are astonishing. Sonny in 1958 was like a monolith standing tall and his ecstatic playing encompasses jazz history with Bud, Pres, Hawk, Bird and Monk in his mind and breath and a mastery of both the horn and the art of voicing idea and melody. I have'nt had this one in the player in a while. A very nice Friday morning record. This is Monday at her best, spanning genres with a relaxed strut and her voice is such a positive and graceful lovely paint brush over these grooving arrangements. Beautiful music, excellent live recording. Swinging, real jazz feeling, excellent singing and playing.

I don't have specific similar experience but I bought an RP3 with the TTPSU and the Elys2 cartridge. I then incrementally added all the Groovetracer mods you can to the turntable and moved to the white Rega belt. Every step of the way was an improvement and the complete complement really upped the sonic quality of the RP3. I would imagine that the Rega model ladder reflects similar gains in sonic quality as one moves up. These Groovetracer mods are available for the P1 and they can be added one by one so if you got the P1 you could start getting a bit better sound modification by modification. . . .

Yes, I think you'll like it and enjoy their work. The only real downside to this is that it's short!

Kurt Elling "Man in the Air" Blue Note cd. This one scratches two itches for me: one to hear Mr. Elling, one to hear Mr. Harris. "Resolution" is a masterwork. This is an album where the arrangements, performances and engineering blend so well.

Clifton Anderson "Been Down this Road Before" Rope a Dope Records cd Enjoying this one. Very nicely produced cd, the music seems timeless in its modern jazz way. Richard Sears Sextet featuring Albert Heath "Altadena" Richard Sears – piano, composition, Kirk Knuffke – cornet, Patrick Wolff – tenor saxophone, Steven Lugener – bass clarinet, alto saxophone, Garret Lang – bass, Albert Heath – drums I ordered the new Clifton Anderson cd from Rope a Dope Records on a day when they were including two free discs with an order, and this was one of the discs they included. Glad they did. It's very good.

Cool. I don't buy vinyl reissues. Too pricey. . . too risky as far as quality. I'll buy old vinyl, but not new vinyl with very very few exceptions. I play about 20 to 30 times more digital discs than vinyl.
