  1. Yesterday I listened twice each to two new arrivals, cds by Cuban pianist Omar Sosa and the NDR Big Band, "Ceremony" and "Es: Sensual" The draw for me was that Brazilian cellist/composer/orchestrator/arranger Jacques Morelenbaum arranged these compositions for Sosa and the band, and I love his work. Quite involving releases that I will enjoy listening to many times to come. Very well-recorded also.
  2. Did you order the two most recent? That was where I and others I know have experienced numerous problems. Pre-orders ignored and more. . . . It's a shame that they are such a small outfit now which is the main reason for issues. Sign of the times.
  3. I'm a huge Mosaic fan, but there was a definite downshift in customer service and disappointing results. An explanation was welcome.
  4. Look for this Decca/GRP cd: http://cps-static.rovicorp.com/3/JPG_500/MI0000/541/MI0000541894.jpg?partner=allrovi.com
  5. I've watched both seasons of "Star Trek: Discovery" and enjoyed them.
  6. Miles Davis "Nefertiti" Mobile Fidelity SACD I will never ever tire of this music.
  7. Disc 11 of "The Complete Bill Evans on Verve." Has "Further Conversations with Myself" and the opening portions of the "A Matter of Conviction" material with Gomez and Philly Joe.
  8. I've reported earlier on this forum. The sound I find excellent, it's great to have all these sessions in consistent transfers and mastering, both of which are very good. I confess I haven't yet read the booklet, I'm not into liner notes currently, but there are excellent photos, a number I've never seen before and don't believe have been released before.
  9. My second set is in the house.
  10. Nor to me.
  11. Listening right now to the BGO cd reissue of Miroslav Vitous "The Bass" (aka "Mountain in the Clouds") Before that I listened to. . . Antonio Carlos Jobim on the BGO cd reissue that combines "Tide" and "Stone Flower." I have other versions of these but at a great price I couldn't resist a reissue with both these albums--collaborations between Jobim and Deodata--on one disc. The remastered sound is very good. These are among my favorite Jobim albums; I love the way that Deodata has arranged these two sessions, and it's great to have Tom and Eumir both on guitars and pianos, either both playing the same instruments on a track or one playing another. I think my favorites are when both play pianos, or one plays an electric piano and one a piano. And I had listened to an album that took me forever to get that was recommended to me as a Jobim nut. It's not a cheap one to get, and my first order I waited and waited for and it never arrived. I contacted the seller and he refunded me the money--I'm not really sure he ever really sent it to me. The second order was processed and then a week later the seller refunded my purchase price saying he didn't have it in stock. Finally I ordered a third time and received it. It was worth the wait. 12. Monstrosity? I like "I'm Trying to Get Home" a lot. We're all different.
  13. Duke Ellington "My People -- The Complete Show" Storyville cd Followed by Antonio Carlos Jobim "Tide"/"Stone Flower" BGO cd
  14. An earlier smaller box came in a clear cube. This one has only been released in one version, which is not a clear cube.
  15. Okay this is the same cover as the RLR which is supposedly the source for the HiHat, and I suspect the source for the RLR is the LP set from 1990. Thanks for the links on the Solar.
  16. Is this you are referencing really a Solar Records release? I haven't seen any information on that. There's the 1990 very limited LP release on the Not On Label, then the Rare Recordings Live (RRL) label 3 cd release, and then the HiHat label release (which is purported to be a clone of the RRL). That's all I've ever seen as physical releases.
  17. Duke Pearson, "Prairie Dog," Atlantic/Warner Japan cd. Once you get used to hearing Pearson in the Atlantic Records sound and not the Blue Note sound this is a great listen. Spaulding, Coleman, Vick. . . great horns.
  18. Grateful Dead, "Mars Hotel" Mobile Fidelity SACD. A favorite release of mine ever since '74. It's ironic that I enjoy the song "Loose Lucy" so much. I have my own Lucy, my wife, who has been my friend since '78. Though she was never like the character in the song, she is instead my "Sunshine Daydream."
  19. Hmmm. I confess that though I've listened to all the discs at least twice, and looked at all the pictures, I haven't read the booklet. I'm just not as interested in liner notes etc. as I used to be. The music. . . more than ever.
  20. Stan Getz "Getz au Go Go" Verve Essentials cd. Lovely stuff. This disc is for me what I imagine a highball is to many.
  21. Me too. Then it came out as a Connoisseur and the fever abated.

  23. Right now disc 2 of Charles Lloyd "Montreux Jazz Festival 1967" on TCB.
  24. John Coltrane, "Ballads" Japan Platinum SHM-CD. Again. . . it sounds so good. This is the best sounding version of this release I have heard. Love this session. It really stands out.
