I guess I'm not bothered much by these issues. This Mobley Mosaic is excellent. It's so nice to have these with consistent excellent transfers and consistent excellent mastering. It's fun to go through these sessions again in this way. And the booklet has many interesting session photos.

I am not an American "First" person. Perhaps the happiest years of my life were lived outside the US. It has become very expensive to ship outside the US and I find that the pricing is just not competitive. Several times I've packaged and gotten a price from the post office. . . only to have the sale fall through due to the high postage, and so I'm just deciding to ship domestically. Using media mail within the US is not inexpensive but it is less expensive than international mail.

I listened to the Hank Mobley "Thinking of Home" release within the new Mosaic box set of his later Blue Note albums. I have always liked this album. It definitely works as a concept of "saudade" or missing home, and there are some great grooves to this album. Walton, Diehl, Bass and Williams really work well together. Eddie Diehl really delivers some excellent solos! Followed by Eliane Elias "Man of Mancha" on Concord cd. Wow. All the elements of this work very well--concept and compositions, arrangements, performances and the recording and production.

Mosaic Records is releasing a Savory collection set
jazzbo replied to ghost of miles's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Today I wrapped up the Savory Collection Mosaic set I bought for my Dad for Xmas and will be giving to him later today when we do our joint family gift exchange. I know he's going to love it, and I know he'll spin the Waller sides first--I can still remember how joyous he was when I gave him a handful of Waller cds more than 20 years ago. -
Listening on my second system, the video centric one, Oppo UDP-205 to Decware ZBIT, ZROCK2 and CSP3 with 25th Anniversary Mods to Sennheiser HD800S headphones. My main system has a better source but the ZROCK2/CSP3/Sennheiser combo is the best headphone listening system I have. With the ZROCK2 and the CSP3 the Sennheiser HD800S are just astonishingly good. Charles Mingus, "Mingus Dynasty" Sony CD Saw this cover to a European single that uses another photo from this photo shoot I'd never seen before!

That makes sense. He has a very similar "slump" to my 87 year old father.

I got the Mobley set in this afternoon. I won't have time for a while to really listen but I compared "There's a Lull in my Life" (a tune I really like from the Ellington versions) between this new set and the most recent Japanese cd release (which.I preferred to the earlier US cd). The sound between the two were very close, which is a good thing! Really nice mastering. I think I may be getting another copy of this box set though. I was unsure that I had pre-ordered a set and with the frustrating week plus long difficulty of spelling that out with Mosaic this month fresh in my mind I ordered another one a week ago. This one I received seems to be from an earlier order. Sigh. Well, it won't go to waste.

That looks more like WHITE hair to me. Believe me I know. . . my gray is starting to turn white.

WHOA! I just found out about this this week and spun it today. Where has this been. . . no one ever told me about this this. . . it's as good as one would expect! Marcus Roberts "Trio Crescent: Celebrating Coltrane"

Art Hodes "Out of the Back Room" Blue Note Japan cd. I love Art Hodes. Had to get up early as I need to drive out to my Dad's to take him to an early appointment and then brunch. Listening on my ZMF Obi headphones. I

On to Hank Mobley "Slice of the Top" Blue Note Japan cd. I especially dig that they cover "There's a Lull in my Life" which I always enjoy hearing Ivie Anderson sing with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, recorded decades earlier. Nice arrangement by Duke Pearson.

Now on to Hank Mobley "Thinking of Home" on Blue Note Japan cd. I really like the compositions on this one. There were as many great Mobley albums held back from release during this time period as were released.

Are there any box bargains currently available?
jazzbo replied to GA Russell's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
That's likely not the Real Gone that GA is referring to. The Real Gone Music that issued the Woodstock JA is a bona fide reissue label, legit. https://shop.realgonemusic.com/collections/all The other Real Gone GA mentions is a grey market budget label. We've been through this before on the forum, it's confusing as they both use the same label name. -
Listening to "DuDuku Da Fonseca Trio Play Don Salvador" again. It's quite a nice album.
