I was with him for a while when I was younger. . . but ultimately the music and the mania wore on me.. .neither really drew me in. "Arriving too Late to Save a Drowning Witch" was probably where I got off the bus and never bought another ticket.
I wonder what would have happened had Zappa been a solo absurdist performance artist like this and continued in that vein. I would have found that more interesting.

Yes, interesting tune. I wish more material from the "dormant" period after this would come out.
Right now
A tremendous recording. Real and present sounding.

That was lovely but I was falling asleep. Waking myself up now with this cd recorded on the largest existing organ built by my great great great great great grandfather David Tannenberg.

To me, on my system, the Mosaic of the Decca material sounds a bit better. Too bad that there were not better sources for Mosaic to use, but this more recent transfer to disc sounds better than the GRP.
This is a very interesting four cd set with all of the piano and cello compositions of Beethoven performed first on modern instruments and then on period instruments. I'm listening to the period instruments right now. . . I'm familiar with these pieces from other interpretations but have never heard them on piano forte and a cello with gut strings before. Excellent sound.

Yes. . . though I'm not as crazy about any of Fuller's playing as I was yeas ago he's inspired on this date.
With my response I was responding to the query above about overlap between the Basie/Young Mosaic set and the upcoming Savory set, noting that the Basie material from the Basie/Young set is not duplicated on the Savory set.
