  1. Many happy happy returns Dan!
  2. Facebook has some reports that Mr. Weston has passed. Sad if true, though he had a full and productive life. Thanks for all the wonderful music and spirit.
  3. In my opinion though a bit "loud" the sound on this new release is extraordinary. Seth Foster did a great job, as he has with other recent Verve reissues.

Info here: https://www.discogs.com/Bob-Dylan-The-Cutting-Edge-1965-1966-The-Bootleg-Series-Vol12-Collectors-Edition/release/7722618 I wish I had bought it, expensive as hell or not. Of course I didn't know that later they would release to the buyers another 11 cds or so worth of live recordings that were exclusive to this set. I would have just gone fr it if I had known that. Ah well. Can't have everything.

Okay you ordered the download of the "Deluxe" version. 6 CD. The "Complete" version was a limited edition box set costing 700 dollars new and much larger. With that edition you got the downloads of the live shows from '65. And only with that version, not officially released owtherwise.
  6. Fantastic stories by a fascinating writer.
  7. His first name is either Rick or Richard, I haven't determined which for certain, and he goes by Ricky which makes sense to me. Not Ricci. (This makes sense to me. I worked with a man whose last name was Kuykendall, which was pronounced "Kirkendall" and he went by "Kirk" even though his first name was different just so that his last name got pronounced right).

If you bought the complete 18 cd set as a physical product when released you would have been emailed a code from Sony for the live show files. . . I know this second hand from buyers' reports, I only bought the 6 cd set myself. I don't know what the possibilities were if you bought a downloaded version, I did not know there was a download version of the complete set. You may wish to inquire from your source.

Those who bought the complete "Big Blue Box" edition of Bootleg Series Vol. 12 also got (later, a few months later) a code to download MP3 files of all the '65 live concerts. Those tracks on this new release were tracks included in the concerts offered as a download (only) to the buyers of the Complete Vol. 12.
  10. As far as I know, yes.
  11. He's a very interesting and knowledgeable and fun dude. And he's starting to produce some good reissues.
  12. I pre-ordered this back in May.
  13. It is a great set! I'd go for it but as I have some of the albums already the price is too steep for what it would get me. . . but it's a good price for this set that does not appear for sale often.
  14. Red Clay Blue Moses Stone Flower Montreux II (Bill Evans) Moon Germs
  15. Sorry, I'm done buying Maiden Voyage! It was Speak Like a Child.
  16. I've purchased the Shorter, Rollins, Dolphy and Hancock. The best of the four is the Dolphy--sounds fantastic. The others. . .sound pretty good.
  17. I've listened to all three discs several times. And will do so again. I like it. My best friend from Texas came to visit me last week and we listened to a few tracks together. He didn't enjoy it as much as I did. . . but then he hadn't heard any of his previous work and in my case it took me a few listens to the "The Epic" to really find all that I liked about it. I think my favorite is the EP "A Harmony of Difference." Not necessarily because it is more concise, it's a more lively performance. But I do like this one. I do wish it were better mastered, it's not a bad recording, but it needs more "headroom."
  18. We're all different. I'm not that big on films, and this one never grabbed me.
  19. Jim as noted above there are a few previous releases that include both the "reverbed" and the dry tracks. Including: https://www.discogs.com/Miles-Davis-Ascenseur-Pour-L%C3%89chafaud-Lift-To-The-Scaffold/release/495456 https://www.discogs.com/Miles-Davis-Ascenseur-Pour-L%C3%89chafaud-Original-Soundtrack-Complete-Recordings/release/10285757 https://www.discogs.com/Miles-Davis-Ascenseur-Pour-L%C3%89chafaud-Lift-To-The-Scaffold/release/5346273 Personally the movie does very little for me, I've seen it a few times and the soundtrack is enjoyed a lot more often.
  20. That's my specialty.
  21. I agree that one shouldn't look back when stepping out.
  22. Cool. I can sell this one.
  23. It's a good one. But it's one of many many good Wild Bill records. I love that burry tone! I know a trumpeter in Austin, Dave Bedrich, who shares a similar sound. Exciting to hear!
