  1. Yes, but amazon.com US canceled the preorders that Kevin and I placed saying the release was unavailable. I'm not reordering through them, went with amazon.co.uk.
  2. People are still listing it on ebay and it's still available for preorder on amazon.co.uk . . . . I'm in the same boat with the cancelation; I preordered from amazon.co.uk yesterday.
  3. The lovely voice, flute, finger snaps and thigh slaps of the lovely Monday Michiru accompanied only by guitars in her follow up cd just released, Naked Breath 2.
  4. Thanks. Probably most of the material in the LP box set.
  5. Indeed. I just wish there was more Wilen recorded here! PS: how's the booklet? Lots and lots of photos?
  6. The best sounding digital version of "Birth of the Cool" that I have, the "RVG Special Edition" from Japan.
  7. Budget reissue from 2014 featuring 2001 DSD remastering. Sounds excellent. And the music is music I've enjoyed for probably forty years!
  8. Interesting article: http://www.newsweek.com/thelonious-monk-jazz-les-liaisons-dangereuses-barney-wilen-589837
  9. Lars Gullin that I don't believe I've heard before. I do love Croque Monsieurs, but it's not a supreme love.
  10. Have to listen to some Duke, he left us on this day in '74. I remember seeing it on the news, I had just started to listen to some of his music thanks to Miles Davis talking about him reverently.
  11. Celebrating the birthday boy
  12. There seems to be some confusion. . . I don't think THIS Timeless is the same as the European label, but rather is a Korean label of Universal Music. . .who own Blue Note. Looking for the same product number on other amazons it seems a box set packaging to selling Blue Note titles.
  13. Some of my favorite piano work by Lou Levy. And of course some dynamic Ella who is really "on." This trio is perfectly capable of supporting her and keeping up! This is the two cd edition, from the recordings in August, '58. Ella Fitzgerald - vocals Lou Levy - piano Max Bennett - double bass Gus Johnson - drums
  14. The Verve "Elite" cd reissue. Walt Dickerson: Vibraphone Sun Ra: Piano, harpsichord, celeste Bob Cunningham: Bass Roger Blank: Drums Recorded in '65 and released in '66, produced by THE Tom Wilson.
  15. Frank Rosolino on Bethlehem, Solid Records cd reissue from Japan. Recorded in May 1956 in Hollywood, California Bass – Wilfred Middlebrooks Drums – Stan Levey Piano – Sonny Clark Trombone – Frank Rosolino
  16. The Solid Records cd reissue of this Bethlehem title. Short and sweet. Mrs. Sharon is okay as a singer. Mr. Sharon is a great pianist, and this has Eddie Costa on vibes, J.R. Monterose on tenor, Joe Puma on guitar, Milt Hinton on bass and Jo Jones on drums!
  17. The SHM-CD, which features both the original Japanese LP cover and the 2007 US cd cover. What a band! Paul Chambers holds this hot potato so well, what a bass player he was.
  18. Two of my friends (Willie Oteri, Dave Laczko) appear on this one.
