  1. Digesting and enjoying "Triplicate," the new Dylan release.
  2. The Excellent sounding Warner Japan cd.
  3. Beautiful Italian ballads with varying instrumentation and the lovely voice of Ms Possi.
  4. The Japanese SHM-CD of the A Love Supreme Complete Masters (SHM-CD). Probably my favorite digital version of the suite. (Don't have the Platinum SHM-CD, or download files as I don't do those).
  5. Barney Bigard is on clarinet.
  6. Disc 2 of this "Lush Life" collection of recordings made by Joe Castro box set. Doesn't have Joe Castro on it, but Teddy Wilson with Stan Getz in a trio for a third, in trio with no horns for a third, and with Zoot Sims in a trio for a third. Sound is better than expected (stereo).
  7. Right now Vol. 5 of the Sunbeam Records series of Bix Restored "Newly Discovered Takes and the Bix Influence"
  8. I have to admit. . . I'm really digging this. Bob is doing his best with these and even when he doesn't quite get the notes he FEELS these chestnuts and his interpretations bring something new. And I LOVE this band and the arrangements, and some of these tunes have some very nicely done subtle horn arrangements. And the sparse country-swing arrangements and playing are just lovely in my opinion. It still amazes me that Charlie Sexton has been in this band so long. I remember hearing Charlie a half a dozen times at Antone's in Austin in the 'eighties, even talking to him a few times. I never imagined he would end up in Bob's band this century and hold down a seat so long. He's become quite a player. I know this is not everyone's cup of tea but I really liked the two before this and these three discs (none are very long) are well-sequenced and well-recorded mood pieces. I'm glad it's finally here.
  9. I love Ray Nance appearances outside of the Ellington Orchestra as a leader or sideman. He was a huge talent!
  10. I'm waiting for mine too Greg. . . that and the Mobley are anticipated greatly!
  11. Animation "Agemo" . . . the remix album.
  12. Thanks for the heads up. Here's the US amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Highway-One-Conception-Gift-Love/dp/B06XQBNZVK/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1491009618&sr=1-1&keywords=bobby+hutcherson
  13. And now something totally different as well.
  14. Haters gonna hate I guess. Personally I like most of the Xmas album and have liked the two "standards" discs released prior to today's. I know neither is a "popular" opinion.
  15. Many happy returns Larry and I hope it's a great one!
  16. That's really true, Lock was cooler than cool. But never cold! Right now . . . . Saw these guys, Hippo Campus, on TV over a year ago and ordered their first release, an EP, "Bashful Creatures". . . it was cheap. I realize I hadn't listened to it since I got it! I was impressed with their "clean" Fender guitar sounds and playing. They remind me oddly enough of early Pretenders if the Pretenders were bashful nice people instead of the punky brewsters they were. Anyway, a nice listen, something different. Now for something TOTALLY different: Black Saint Records, 1984 David Murray – tenor saxophone, bass clarinet James Blood Ulmer – guitar Don Pullen – piano Lonnie Plaxico – bass Marvin "Smitty" Smith – percussion Harmolodic Jack Johnsonesque goodness.
  17. I'm eager to hear the (already maligned!) Dylan version, my copy of "Triplicate" is on a truck bound to me later today. I confess that Nat King Cole's version on Capitol really moves me. . . especially when he sings "But that was long ago. . . " That phrase the way he phrases it evokes memories in me that are both tender and sad. Which is a good way for Stardust to be experienced.
  18. Listening to this in preparation to "Triplicate" which should hit my mailbox in a few hours. I love this album and it sounds really really good to me.
  19. Disc 2 https://audiofidelity.net/sites/default/files/SantanaLotus-SACDMockup%281%29.jpg
