IMO they sound fantastic and don't need to sound better.
  7. Listening to the Rampart Street Paraders side. Man, the fidelity on this lp is out of this world! Can't beat mid-fifties records for delivering the big bold sound!
  8. I know, I was replying sloppily. So excited to have another season of Better Call Saul ahead of us.
  9. Don't really hear a strong Sun Ra "connection" in the music myself. A bit perhaps. Going to have to spin The Epic again soon. I do like it. So much to listen to!

I have Miles Davis LPs with sides over 25 minutes long that sound great. Can be done.
  11. Personally I loved it. And the hour "talk show" afterwards was fun. Today I'm getting caught up on X-Files and Flash.
  12. I got into Nistico thanks to Danny D'Imperio talking about playing with him and talking him up as a player. . . . Danny was right, he was something else. I keep coming back to this one mentioned several times on the first page of the thread; that's the one I keep reaching for for a Nistico fix, that and an unofficial thing:
  13. So does the writing below.
  14. Just wives and girlfriends. . . .;)
  15. I'm looking forward to Blackstar; I decided to go for the Blu-Spec CD2 version and that is on the way from Japan at the moment. Also looking forward to another singer's album with jazz musicians--Ed Motta's new one, also on the way to me from Japan.
  16. Thanks. I always like books more than movies made from them. . . this book moved me so much I'll stick with my memories of it. And may be brave enough to re-read it one of these days!
  17. I read that book when I was a teenager. (Movie doesn't look anything like the book I read). A sort of avant grade novel, and scary as hell--it totally brought out the horror of war with unvarnished clarity.
  18. Yes, I have this material on the Teagarden Roulette Mosaic set in stereo, and additional tracks. . . but Teagarden sounds so so good on 'fifties vinyl. This is the mono lp and it's amazing.
  19. You definitely should experience Peggy Lee's.
