  1. Another box in this format compiled to plug holes is an excellent solution. Sensible! That's what record companies do, right, sensible things? :)
  2. We're more likely to see a third box than a new series of reissues plugging holes. . . and I'd be happy to see a third box. We'll see.
  3. So now there are three shows I'll wait to see hoping they come to disc: Daredevil, Jessica Jones and The Man in the High Castle. Enjoying the bleak paranoid ride that is Manhattan, Season One. And enjoying the violent goofy ride that is Fargo, Season 2. Bev: I think you would really enjoy the Dick novel, though I don't think you need to know it to watch this series.
  4. You're right Steve, I bought this as a gift for a friend. It's a very nice set, but longtime collectors as many of us are here have this material. The material was not originally recorded for Vogue, but licensed from US record labels.
  5. Kevin Reeves. Even though I'm not bothered by RVG's remastering as much as many, this is a better job all around. The best I've heard this in Redbook (I haven't heard the Platinum SHM-CD or whatever it is that seems to have been crowned the best so far before this).
  6. Catching up on "Indian Summers," and started the first season of Manhattan on blu-ray.
  7. They have a page which lists former sets no longer available, but just the titles and the number of discs in the set.
  8. That's my thinking as well.
  9. The 100, Season 2, on Blu-ray. This is a gritty and silly show that I find quite intriguing. On broadcast it looks awful, muddy and dark and "noisey." The Blu-ray has an image and sound that is exemplary.
  10. It's scary to hear a commentator refer to this as "the new normal." A frightening evening, a horror for thousands, and I hope we don't see more.
  11. I bought recent budget reissues of the two Marion Browns or I would be all over that one. I'm happy to see the Shepp, Lateef, Jamal and Hamilton releases, as well as the two Sanders as those digipaks from the US are showing their mastering age.
  12. I watched a few more episodes of Gigi Does It (IFC). Really funny.
  13. Looking over the track listing for the 18 set it seems a historical artifact, I think it's fantastic this has been released. Don't know what to say mjzee, I have the 6 cd set and there's no barrell scrapings there imo. You can see the development of song and sound, and Dylan's artistry was at a peak. . . I'm very happy with the 6 cd; I'm sure the 2 cd set is great, but I wanted more and am very satisfied.
  14. I have the six cd version and it's a wonderful set. Sound is excellent, choice of tracks sensible and satisfying.
  15. Watched last night's Gotham. That is the best of the comic book shows for me. Agree about Suits! I'm a huge Gina Torres fan and she is great in this. Just about to start Manhattan Season 1 on Blu-ray.
  16. Hey, I understand. I went for it hoping a few of the releases sound better. . . and they do sound a bit better. And I have them all in one place, which I like.
  17. Mike, those have been added to one of the Newport discs in this set. You're welcome. I think you'll enjoy this set.
  18. I received the Ellington, Blakey and Monk boxes from amazon.co.uk (actually shipped from amazon.de) this week. The older masterings are used on those discs that were released in the 'nineties but they sound somewhat improved to my ears. Nice box sets.
  19. Person of Interest season 4 on Blu-ray
  20. Some years ago I realized John is a great guitar player. And a dick. And that's a common enough combo!
  21. Watched episodes 3,4 and 5 of "Indian Summers" (BBC, watched on PBS). Excellent cinematography and music especially, very good overall.
  22. Yes, it was talked of a few years ago but there's been no recent talk. However the new Ellington, Blakey and Monk boxes just released in Europe (I have copies on the way) just appeared with no previous announcement, so perhaps a Brubeck may appear out of thin air one day as well.
  23. Me too. Just music that has grown on me through the decades, comfort food music.
  24. Yes, I have copies of both nights in this series. Bought in the 'seventies, and enjoyed til the complete cd sets came out.
  25. I don't see anyone here saying it was. It doesn't sound bad per se--the piano however is very much out of tune.
