The Paramount box from Third Man / Revenant
jazzbo replied to cih's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
You flatter yourself if you think you're "the anti-christ" but that's in keeping with your sense of self-importance. I made a comment that your terrier on a trouser leg shtick about the Hoffman board was pretty annoying and that makes you think I think you're the anti-christ. All through this one thread you have been insulting members and making judgmental comments about them and I suppose this is acceptable behavior in your eyes or you have some compelling justifying reason. It's just seems petty and it is annoying. I neither think you are the anti-christ nor suddenly have some sort of problem with you. Your persistent antagonism has been annoying for some time. As for the facebook thing, I really don't even know which of my "friends" you are. I don't visit facebook with any kind of frequency and to be honest wish I had never joined. If you want me to put you on "ignore" I will, as I don't want to have to keep answering your antagonistic posts directed to me, and regret even posting in this thread. -

I have no interest in checking who joined/stayed. Not my obsession. But if there were more insulting, judgmental and antagonistic persons like yourself posting all the time I'd find another board myself. -

If anyone is keeping people from joining/staying it is insulting, very judgmental people who are antagonistic to boot. -
I've been afraid that this was the case in the past, and thanks for verfiying it Chuck. If the material were to come out from original sources they would sound better and be better annotated (possibly) and this is a plus for the collector and fan as well as possibly a revenue for the estate of the musician or musician. I've never really been that impressed with the sound of any Fresh Sound release.

I was referring to your constant puffing up against the Hoffman board and Hoffman. Start another thread about that or put it in the thread about the Hoffman board. As for the rest, I don't need your advice on what I should spend my money on. -
This vinyl version of Another Self Portrait sounds amazing.

It seems recently noted that there will be a Basement Tapes bootleg series edition. Doubt it will be "complete." Yes, Blood on the Tracks has been remastered. Been out some years on Columbia, and recently there's been a Mobile Fidelity hybrid SACD. The SACD layer sounds AMAZING, much better than the Sony SACD. I haven't heard the Redbook layer and I imagine it's first rate. if you love Blood On the Tracks, and do SACD, I can heartily recommend the Mobile Fidelity.

I think there's a mistake in the album listing here, Shot of Love should be newly remastered for the collection, and I doubt Street Legal is. Quite a box! I'm in just because. Mainly because of the newly remastered albums. I can sell off or give away many previous Dylan cds.

Hey don't huff and puff so hard about that board, the chip on your shoulder might slip. -
No kh, Len is correct that the ebay listing back cover image shows the 18:25 time.

If you could only have one Mosaic box...

Yes, IIRC these were features for T-Bone with the Freddie Slack Orchestra and they are also on the Freddie Slack Mosaic Select.. -

Now up on amazon. less than 190. -
Right here, and on the original separate cd that this box set combines. http://www.allmusic.com/album/the-okeh-columbia-rca-victor-recordings-1925-1933-mw0002410228 Many scream about the sound on this, but revisiting it the sound is not that bad especially if you have a bright system. The biggest problem is that a few of the tracks are not at the right speed, but that is not a problem with this track.

I've never heard of Ron playing trombone. I bet it's an error duplicated in allmusic from the Impulse release.

MANY happy returns!

A new Hathaway box set on the way that looks great! Quite a bit of "new" material, and all collaborations with Roberta Flack: http://donnyhathaway.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/never-my-love-anthology-new-4cd-box-set.html

Yes, interesting phenom. I'm watching Once Upon a Time, Season 2 on Blu-ray. Man this show looks fantastic on Blu-ray.

My guess is that a lot of work was done preliminarily to this set before it became clear that metal parts would not be available and it was decided to move forward with the set to maximize the value of the time already put in. To be honest those cds that are mentioned as sources that I have heard sound pretty good to me. With a bit of tweaking they will probably sound even better and "homogenized" to the mastering of the other tracks from varied source material. These people know what they're doing and I haven't adopted a doom and gloom attitude about this set. I pre-ordered it, in part because my parents are Ella fans and not really familiar with the early material and it will be fun to share listening to this set with them.

Last night's Breaking Bad. Great episode. Robert Forster! What great casting!

If you could only have one Mosaic box...

Regarding the T-Bone Walker Mosaic: If I recollect correctly, there were two sides of a 78 included on the Mosaic that are not on the EMI/Capitol T-Bone sets, though they do show up on a Texas Guitar Slingers set from the Capitol blues series. And on the very first Chronogical Classics R&B disc of Walker's. The Mosaic had different mastering too I think than the EMI or Capital sets. I've never heard the Mosaic. -
Many many happy returns! Hope it's a great one!

Only one? I recoil from the thought. So many I would not want to be without. The Parker. . . can't get that elsewhere. And I really cherish the Hodes, hard to get that material elsewhere as well. -
Suggest a better word than 'conservative'

Mainstream could be used this way.
