  1. Finally getting to chronicle what I listened to early this morning. Started off with one of my favorite “Legends of Jazz” cds from Prestig/OJC, “Rusty Bryant Vol. 2” Idris Muhammed is so darned good hear, as are all the guitarists. 300×300 31.7 KB Followed by Dave Douglas’ new one, “Alloy” on Greenleaf Music cd. Three trumpets, vibes, bass and drums. Nice! 500×500 71.5 KB 2500×1667 376 KB

    CD Japan

I definitely will limit my overseas orders, though I confess I ordered from cdjapan today . . . I could not resist the new Miles Davis 1964 SACD. There was an additional "fees/charge" of 13 dollars. . . I swallowed it as I had some cash from an audio sale.
  3. Now listening to “Alexis Cole with One For All – You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To,” Venus cd while Lucy and Memphis doze behind me about fifteen feet away on the bed. This is the life.
  4. This is just a great band Pepper led and this is one of the best of those recordings released. “Unreleased Art Pepper Volume 6 Blues for the Fisherman” disc 1 of 4
  5. As I suspected this set was announced today. I have heard about a third of this music, I like it, and I pre-ordered.
  6. I have saddlebags on the bike and I found a bag that fit well behind me on the seat and that was what I packed with me. I did this trip most often in two days one way, one overnight stay--I love being on the road and "in that zone" that I find in mind and body and did 12 or 13 hour days or so. I did do camping twice, and stayed in motels three times. I have a tool bag with tools that have been useful that is strapped down low on the frame in the front. During these trips I had little to no issues at all. When I stayed more than two days in Ohio I mailed clothes to my parents and then back to supplement what I brought.
  7. In the case of my Fat Bob from late '07 through '14 it was my only vehicle used almost daily in Central Texas until early '13, and I drove it to visit my parents in Ohio back and forth about five times. It has been a very reliable bike.
  8. I think they were just sent information/hype statement and a pic to put up when they are available. And they jumped the gun, there was some crossed communication. Just my guess. I had heard a while back a Crosby set was a possibility so I'm not surprised to see it as coming soon.
  9. No, Mosaic has not released a set at this time. I think that JM has jumped the gun, I would expect a Mosaic announcement soon, possibly via Sundy Gazette.
  10. Yusef Lateef “Live at Ronnie Scott’s” cd This is a relatively mellow live date, with the blue elegance of Stan Tracey on piano and future Mahavishnu Orchestra member Rick Laird on bass.
  11. A very cool morning. New pet Memphis is finally settled rather clumsily in the listening chair. Starting off with Charlie Haden Liberation Music Orchestra “Time/Life” Impulse cd
  12. I used to be pretty blase about this album. Team ups in general don’t usually impress me much, and early on in my exploration of Jobim and first exposure to Regina. . .I just was not impressed. That has changed over time. I recently found an affordable copy of this sealed Japanese cd and am revisiting the session. Really enjoying it tonight! The system is really making this edition shine.
  13. Jazz is Dead 3, Marcos Valle
  14. Well, my new dog makes it impossible to use my laptop while he and I share the listening chair, so I didn’t get to chronicle my morning listening until now. It’s nice and cool this morning, and though most leaves have not turned their color to their autumn coat, leaves and acorns have fallen, making for a nice walk Memphis and I shared. I’m back now, he’s in the kitchen with Lucinda, and the system is warmed up and sounding fantastic! I started off with Dave Young Quintet “Mostly Mingus.” This is a live recording that very well captures the spirit and drive of a Mingus unit while also being up to date in its structure and soloing. 500×500 65.3 KB And now I’m playing Yazz Ahmed’s latest, “A Paradise in the Hold”–a great recording of her distinctive sounding musical collage. This keeps unveiling little delicate nuggets of music.
  15. IMO excellent.
  16. Johnny “Hammond” Smith “Legends of Acid Jazz” Prestige cd
  17. Tom Jobim “Matita Pere” Philips cd (Brazil) A beautiful album, over time one of my very favorites of Jobim’s. Released in the US as “Jobim”
  18. Cornelia Nilson “Where do You Go” Cornelia Wilson “Where do You Go” Really enjoying this cd from the lovely Swedish drummer.
  19. I looked it up on google. Here is the response: The "Little Bird" moniker is a direct reference to the meaning of the name Ornette, which translates to "Little Eagle" or "Little Bird" in Old English This Todd Bishop release is GREAT.
  20. Todd Bishop Group “Little Played Little Bird–The Music of Ornette Coleman” I really like this one, but no surprise as I have liked another Todd Bishop disc a lot. And Weber Iago is on piano here, always a good thing.
  21. I can’t listen and post well now that Memphis is here in the home. He insists on sharing my listening seat with me when I can listen, and there is really not enough room in this chair for us both to sit comfortably, and it’s impossible to incorporate a laptop which he sees only as an impediment to attention he deserves. I managed to squeeze in a few listens. . . Jose James “1978” Nude Blonde cd Miles Davis “ESP” Sony Blu-Spec CD2 Kenny Burrell “Prime–Live at the Downtown Room” High Note cd
  22. Not unexpected, but sad news.
