  1. Glad to see you posting again S! I'm coping mi amigo. Been quite a stressy time for me the last 18 months or so. . . . Building stamina and tolerance in me unwillingly. I don't get out to jazz much here in Austin. Looking forward to seeing Rickie Lee Jones at the end of the month.
  2. And if you can afford it and want real Mexican food, check out Fonda San Miguel. Like going on vacation. Great food.
  3. I enjoy this box, it's a well chosen overview, and the notes are fun to have. I've compared a lot of these to other sources and in my opinion Sony has done a decent job in the remastering and sound restoration.
  4. I've come to the conclusion (based on hearing "official recordings" alone) that any edition of the band with Miroslav Vitous was the one to beat.
  5. Have to agree with you, I've been a supporter because he reminds me of an old friend, but he's not delivering the goods!
  6. €66,98 + postage. . .not too bad.
  7. Didn't realize they are reissuing those three albums; good news, as they are very very good ones. I'm a stone cold Weston nut. I think I have all the official releases save one Italian lp. And I'll confess to having a number of unofficial releases. I'm in awe of his work.
  8. There was definitely an early digital cd series of Arista/Savoy releases. I don't remember ever seeing a Barron, but I used to own Cannonball/Nat and Coltrane/Hardman items, Sun Ra, and a few others.
  9. I would bet you can find a used or not yet sold copy around. This was in print a long time! There is a Definitive collection that almost completely mirrors it, but in my opinion the sound on the MCA is better and there are copious and helpful notes. I'd say see if you can find a copy of the MCA for a spell. It's not likely to show up in print again as the same thing, but one never knows.
  10. In my opinion, this would be a worthy purchase if you didn't have the material elsewhere! This is really fine music. If you like the forties material in the Centennial box, this is a go!
  11. Sorry to hear about those health issues! Dietary changes are hard for older persons (talking about myself here) to make. I need to do better at those I try to. . . .
  12. I might still get the RVG... it has a differently coloured cover, so I can trick myself into believing it's a different record, right? I see you know ALL the tricks!
  13. Don't look for any flames from me, I'm a believer in cable differences. Heck if I ever hit the lotto I'll even spend huge dollars trying out the audio jewelry types offered. In the meantime, til those numbers hit, I've experimented with all kinds of cables from cryo'd Cat-6 single strand to severely discounted PS Audio cabling (currently in use). Sounds as if you hit on cables that really work for your system, and you know that is a joy! I am waiting for a new preamp to be handbuilt and shipped, and breaking in a pair of exceptionally good interconnects for the preamp, the "Decware Silver Referrence" interconnects. Really enjoying the relaxing sound. . . !
  14. Flurin, I'm listening to the RVG of Eastern Sounds right now. . . . I really like it. But that doesn't mean you need to upgrade. It just means that the RVG sounds great. So does the OJC really in it's less flashy way.
  15. Yup. Both reason to go and to stay away.
  16. Just wait a short spell for the Lone Gambit Sounds Factory version.
  17. Hey Phil, howdy!
  18. Yeah I have decent vinyl of Going for the One and Tormato. . . . They're okay, they're pretty good. About that time though I got away from listening to prog rock and a lot of other things and into playing blues rock in a band and listening to jazz as my personal steady diet. I just don't "feel" GFTO and Tormato the same way, but I might grab the cds in time if I feel the urge for more Yes after these arrive. I think it's funny that I really loved Bruford in Yes, and never really liked the King Crimson albums with him, or Earthworks.
  19. The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge. My vinyl of these shows the scars of youthful exuberance and recklessness. I recently bought Tales from Topographic Oceans on cd, and it sounded so good I went for these. I might later get Relayer. . . .That's about the end of my Yes interest.
  20. Decided I needed some Yes cds, ordered three early ones from yourmusic.com
  21. You can find this also on the Big O . . . plus a Chick-John-Dave-Jack recording! http://www.bigo.com.sg/
  22. I like this one, and all the stuff with Sam Brown on guitar, especially the Atlantic with Burton.
  23. Move on to many more happy ones!
