  1. I want to say Kevin W... Kevin Walter(s)? (Btw, just because I want to say something, that doesn't mean it will make any sense) Wasn't it Maltz?
  2. The Seuss family has had this removed. . . but you can still find a few songs if you search! I think it's just amazingly good.
  3. Saw Rickie Lee Jones last night. Loved it!
  4. I emailed a friend who has a friend who. . . well, we'll see.
  5. I'm pretty new to enjoying Dave Douglas. I like this one a lot, and I really like an earlier very harmelodic string one that I think is called "Convergence" (?). That is exceptional. I'm going to ease my way into some others.
  6. I pm'd you first, then emailed you, so I probably lost out on the eternal life extra. Queried about the Clayton and Byas. I've already got the Dexter. . . it's a good Dexter cd!
  7. I have all the material on the Cohn/Neman/Green so I'll sit tight. The "Jazz Tribune" two cd version of the Newman lps sounds fantastic. . .no need for me to upgrade (this is my favorite of this material).
  8. I preordered Compulsion from cduniverse. It supposedly shipped 3/19. Haven't gotten it. Have received one of the "Keepnews" series cds that was shipped 3/26. Something has gone amiss! I've emailed customer service. . . . The Mary Lou Williams that also supposedly shipped 3/19 is not here.
  9. Well, this is an interesting set. I'm just beginning to get in. . . . The sound. . . . It's slightly less "brilliant" than I'm used to in Mosaic vintage material. . . but that's not really a complaint.
  10. Gene Ammons. . .you can reach blindly into a stack of his recordings and come up with a gem!
  11. Got set #40 in the mail last night!
  12. That Ellington is going to be fantastic! The lp is a good one. . . this should have great sound and new material. Yum!

Wow Chuck. I would have loved to have heard either/both of those combinatons! Womp! Womp!
  14. Thanks for all the replies. Wish there were more available for purchase! This is a fine concert recording indeed!
  15. I have an LRC Classics cd "The Song is You" . . . Stan Getz backed by Stanley Cowell, Miroslav Vitous, and Jack De Johnette. This is a killer recording. Are there more out on cd with Getz backed by this rythmn section?
  16. Good work! Good news about the RVGs. . . .I'd rather have RVGs than any other type of reissue. . . .Especially as great as the organ dates sound.
  17. They're just about to sing "Happy Birthday Larry!"

    Jimmy Dorsey

Allen, are you thinking of Earl Bostic?
  19. We've done this before . . . some of us get tired of "repeats."
  20. That Armstrong is worth more than he's asking!

    Jimmy Dorsey

Harold, you're really right I think. The Jimmy recordings that I reach for are the four volumes on Jazz Oracle that feature recordings of Jimmy and Tommy mostly as sidemen in the early days. Fantastic fun stuff!

    Ben Webster

I like Meets Oscar Peterson more and more as time goes by. That "Bye Bye Blackbird" is just about the essence of jazzz. . . just excellent.
