  1. Sure. Around here they all turned into Caldors. "Put your hands on your radio. . . . "Don't send your money to the Lord. . . don't send your money to the church of your choice. . . send your money to me, Rev. E. J. Corvette. . . ." ---Firesign Theater
  2. The iTunes files are sourced from the Japanese cd. They sound great. I like this one (I have it from iTunes). Not essential Konitz, but you'd like it Late.
  3. Glad you're enjoying the set Flurin! I think it's a great one myself.
  4. Just got my embossed invitation to the party! Many more happy ones!~
  5. The Getz is my favorite, it's a good one.
  6. The Betty Davis are a great deal from dustygroove.com, l2 bucks.
  7. BLAST!
  8. Go to My Controls, go to Edit Avatar Settings. You can there upload the photo if it's not too large.
  9. Good project! If I didn't have those fully fleshed out I'd be on that right away!

    Verve LPRs

Hardly anyone but Blue Note seems to have a focused jazz reissue program any longer! (Not to mention staff!)
  11. Well Flurin, in your shoes I'd be tempted to use "It's good to be the King" . . . !
  12. You'll find some real love/hate for the Pearson box, but I really like it, I really like all the titles included. I'm thinking of getting, over the course of the year, the Tolliver Mosaic set, and some of the Transparency Sun Ra dvds.
  13. It sounds like most of the Left Bank series. Which I find listenable, I've worst sounding material I listen to.
  14. Believe me when "Go Ahead John" came out it was DA BOMB. It was the one side from that two lp set I could play for any of the music lovers I knew and it would trip and flip them up. The production was very adventurous for the time, and Miles played straight and clear blues with some brilliant call and response via taping. . . .I made some Miles fans with that side, and even if I made no convert, I made impressions. I've got an lp facimile edition of Big Fun from Sony now to replace the vinyl. . .sounds really good, but the vinyl is the real deal still. (Probably the case on all the Miles titles; I'm just so out of the turntable loop any longer.)
  15. Congrats Flurin! Go in to "Edit Profile Information" in "My Controls" and it's the first field.
  16. Didn't realize these were supposed to be West Coast Classics I know. Just felt like talking about them. The rules had already been broken!
  17. I know Mike (Soul Stream) is getting a similar family satisfaction from the show. Neither Helen and I really relish the "auditions" episodes but it's fun for us both to anticipate and sit side by side on the sofa and enjoy the top 24 and beyond episodes. And as I'm running my TV through the Decware system now, I'm really enjoying the sound!
  18. Big Fun was REVELATORY when it came out as a two lp set in the seventies. I snapped it up the minute issued or nearly. A sentimental favorite that I'll always enjoy.
  19. It's a shame that Fresh Sounds just put out the best two Brookmeyers on one cd (Stretchin' Out, Kansas City Revisited). These I hope will become Blue Note cds one day. (They're on the Brookmeyer Mosaic Select)
  20. Egads. Bones and House? They could disappear for all I care! UGH! To each their own! Idol will be back in January. I'm eager for it's return as my wife, who doesn't get enough pleasure out of life for medical reasons, just loves Idol!
  21. You only have 9,933 posts to go!
  22. Buddy Rich, disc five Man, sound is great on this set.
  23. Lost was whack. Or maybe it's that I watched the second half first, then the dvdr'd first half.
  24. I'm listening right now to the Columbia Small Group Swing set. . . been listening to it for about five hours on the iPod/Monitor Audio i-deck combo. Man it's great rainy Friday at the office music!
  25. In my opinion, for me, the Duke set is about five times more exciting than the Dizzy.
