Well a Pharoah and Shepp came out recently, via the Verve LP by Request (sort of) series. They sound great.

OJC put out a cd of Mercer material. . . sound wasn't great but not awful either. . . under Johnny Hodges name, "Caravan." VERY few duds on this label. I really enjoy most of the historical releases. Check out almost any by Pete Jolly . . . . The Stan Levey is great.

Wow. . . Latin is not the forte of the Idol contestants! I still liked Jordin's performance though. She's very charismatic. I think she's a real beauty. This week I think they slammed Melinda with no justification. Her performance was elegant and polished and confident and should have been praised. What a talent she is! And I like Haley though she didn't do so hot this week. She's a better singer than they give her credit for though. . . she actually goes from soft to loud etc. though that doesn't come off well in their engineering. Most of these singers are all singing at their top volume all the time. That can be boring! None-the-less I believe that Haley will go this week.

I probably won't get as I told them that I felt their reason for not honoring my order was ridiculous and I would never order from them again if I could help it.

Hopefully, Rudy will continue to remaster these Prestige titles as they are certainly just as deserving as the Blue Notes are. Deserving of what? His initials on the packaging? Guy No, the reintroduction in a new series, and the sound. (I dig the sound!)

Ooops forgot I used to have the K2 of this and then gave it away when the RVG was in hand. I really prefer the RVG.

To be honest Mike, I prefer the RVG the one time when I've been able to compare ("Walkin'").

Well, I'll differ in that a) I've done some comparisons, loudness matched, and really think the RVGs ARE an upgrade for my ears in my system and b) I no longer give much of a flying flute about liner notes. I have about five of the Prestige RVGs and like Mike I dig them. I'll probably get a few more.

I really like Under Paris Skies (but then I love that song!) Off the Wall and Ill Wind are both really good. But then your mileage may vary.
