  4. Dusty Groove currently has many Delmark CDs for $0.99 - $3.99. If this interests you, I’d jump on it. 9. Reinhard Goebel complete Archiv box, disc 55.
  10. Interestingly, Derryl Goes, the drummer, plays on Smith's 1968 Verve LP "Phase II," which I believe was his last LP other than half an album on Concord.
  11. Are you running the most up-to-date macOS? If you are, I don't think there's much of a risk. Garage Band is a current Apple app. If you delete it, you can always download it again from the App Store. Is Chess an Apple program or from a third-party? Is it currently offered in the App Store? If it isn't, you may lose it for good if you delete it. I'm sure there are tons of replacement chess apps you could use. HOWEVER, if you're running an operating system older than Sonoma, you may not be able to redownload Garage Band, so you may not want to delete it. If you delete Garage Band, remember to first save any files you made with it. I notice that Garage Band takes up 1.38 GB on my hard drive. If that's all you need to recover, then great. However, if you need more space than that, here's a good in-depth article about how to clear disc space on a Mac: https://www.macworld.com/article/671020/how-to-clear-disk-space-on-a-mac.html
  12. I listened to this earlier today: I have it on a Black Lion CD that also includes a Braxton/Leo Smith/Leroy Jenkins album called "Silence", which I can do without. But I do like the Braxton/Teitelbaum duets. I have two other albums by them: (which I don't think was ever released on CD), and:
  13. Coincidentally, I just started listening to Resonance's Nat King Cole box. This box includes some tracks from Jubilee shows. No mention is made of any complications regarding their use, or of needing approval from the government. Indeed, the credits mention "Episode #29 of AFRS Jubilee is newly transferred by United States Library of Congress." Maybe the government simply doesn't care anymore. The box was produced with permission of the Cole estate.
  14. There's a very sweet tribute to her late husband by Lisa Cuscuna in Mosaic's Jazz Gazette: https://www.mosaicrecords.com/jazz-gazette-news/

  16. Reinhard Goebel complete Archiv box, disc 54.
  17. I'll be interested to read the Mosaic books. I do know that, while the Jubilee shows presented themselves as "live," much of the musical material was recorded in the studio beforehand.
  18. For those wishing to sample a pretty good Jubilee program, check out #089 (1944-07-24): Jimmie Lunceford Orch, Joe Sullivan, Lena Horne, The Nat King Cole Trio, Butterfly McQueen, and hosted by Ernie "Bubbles" Whitman. https://archive.org/download/AfrsJubilee/1944-07-24-AFRS-Jubilee-089-Jimmie-Lunceford-Orch--Joe-Sullivan-Lena-Horne-The-Nat-King-Cole-Trio-Butterfly-McQueen.mp3
