  1. One of my fave Mosaics. The Street Swingers, included here, is a terrific disc. Specialliy since I love guitars. It's with Jim Hall and Jimmy Rainey.
  2. Well, it's clear that Mulligan was very marked by the Birth of the cool Miles Davis sessions. But notwhithstanding that, what I really like most here is his work with the Vinnie Burke String Quartet from that never released album. It's on tracks 8 to 11.
  3. Exactly same question.
  4. Bezouro manganga!
  5. And really enjoying it. Featuring nylon and steel strings and even a twelve string guitar on some sessions. With the great Clare Fischer or Les McCann.
  6. I never had realized he was Claude's brother.
  7. Got it yesterday and already heard it twice: yesterday and now. A Rolling Stones curated blues compilation. And the cover drawing is by Ronnie Wood.
  8. Thanks T.D. I will have a look. This looks promising.
  9. Thanks for the recommendation. But in the first place I wanted the image, which I don't have because I don't have an LP or CD. I just have it in a Monk's complete Prestige recordings box. But, now that I think of it, I could photograph a repro of the cover that's included in the booklet. But it's fairly small.
  10. This is a Brazilian pianist I like a lot. I specially recommend Dom Salvador, a piano trio in the tradition of the Samba Jazz school, and Som, Sangue e Raca, a more combative black power album, from 69 and 71 respectively. I had not discovered this tilll now. and
  11. I am searching for a framable copy of this. I know I saw it at AllPosters.com some time ago. But it isn't there anymore.
  12. Yes, that's very true!
  13. Got this the other day, together with the Gordon bio and the new Coltrane from earlier this year (Both directions at once) and listened to it yesterday and now to Coltrane. I liked the Marmarosa set a lot. Will have to listen to it again though to fully appreciate it.
  14. That one is good. I got it from Hiroshi, I think, back when he still had his shop.
  15. Actually rereading it because I already read it when it came out ten or nine years ago. But I'm even liking it more this second time. It's very good. And well researched. As all Ted Gioia books.
  16. Got it yesterday finally. A signed copy too. And although it is a Christmas present to myself I won't open it until Christmas and probably start reading it still later for I still have a long reading list before.
  17. . With Miles and Hank Jones.
  18. With Sonny Clark. Among others.
  19. I'd like to know how their new album is, from a couple of years ago, I think. What I had heard more was Psychocandy.
  20. I liked them a lot.
