I used to use it heavily (even had one printed version) but still use it nowadays. Although mostly from my phone. I had a time when I ignored it but I'm back going to it sometimes.
Agreed. I paid more too. Don't know how much, but it's very good. There are the ultraphone sessions (some of the first recordings he did), different airchecks (one with a US Air Force band) and more.
From the Doubletime Series. Althouugh I also own a JRVG mini-LP of one of them, which sounds better, here the two volumes are together, with the famous Andy Warhol drawing on the cover.
And even more surprised it hasn't seen a reissue in all those years. I think it was reissued by Freshsound, but no legit reissue. At least that I know of. Recommended.
European jazz from the same time West Coast Jazz was made. Spurred in interest by another thread here I got this, although I already own a lot of Hipp. I tried my local bookstore to get it but to no avail (it's a record label product not a bookpublishers. I suspect it may have something to do with that). Then I tried a record store and they could get it but more expensive than from Bear Family direct. And that's the way I prefer doing things. Buy it straight from the source. I bought it and it was delivered within a week.
