  1. Couw is a member here and on the AAJ board. http://forums.allaboutjazz.com/showthread....20&pagenumber=4 As Couw made the booklets available online (link in quoted post), there is no need for me to email them (unless there are problems with downloading). As the font on the booklets is rather small, you should use a good laser printer to print them out.
  2. Would it really be so difficult for him to get a deal with a smaller (maybe european) label ? He recorded for Triloka in the early 90's, and those albums were also distributed in the US.
  3. My Pepper box came with a small booklet. But Couw's discography is much more useful than the booklet. I can mail it to you
  4. Aric, You're on the safe side with these "Vinyl" CD-Rs http://www.verbatim.com/products/products.....cfm?pro_id=380 But don't play them in your Wurlitzer
  5. And why not simply ask them to add a Organissimo link?
  6. http://www.bluenote.com/bulletinboard/ubb-...i?ubb=get_daily I'm not so sure the omission of this board is deliberate. Organissimo may be the most active jazz board today, but it is a rather closed circle and not easy to find for someone who does not read jazz forums regularly (the Blue Note staff didn't even visit their own board regularly). AAJ is the biggest jazz portal, and Jazz Corner has a longer tradition, so these two forums were obvious choices. Organissimo is a much less known site that people find through links on other boards or through personal contacts. It wouldn't surprise me if Tomatbluenote doesn't know Organissimo exists. If Blue Note was really interested in knowing what jazz fans are discussing they would not have closed their own board, or reopened it very soon. It takes a couple of days to install a new board software or to reorganize a forum.
  7. I'm wondering if these copy-protected CDs actually increase or decrease sales. CD buyers who want to burn a copy for a friend and don't have the knowledge to circumvent copy protection (on some discs it only takes a marker pen to defeat it) will not buy a second disc but try to find mp3s on the internet. Consumers who expect a CD to offer optimum sound quality will think twice before buying such crippled discs.
  8. This is a german ZYX release. They usually remaster the tapes themselves, with extremely variable results. Some sound good, others are unlistenable.
  9. Copy protection is used most in Europe, because in the US the music industry is afraid of legal actions from consumer protection organisations. The biggest problem of copy protection is that the CDs don't play in PCs and in many DVD players, car CD players and other devices that use computer CD drives instead of dedicated audio drives. Some protection schemes also make the CDs sound worse. They contain errors that the CD player can still correct without the CD "jumping", but error correction has a negative effect on the sound quality. This is still true of many currently used schemes, as tests by german audio and PC magazines have shown. I won't buy copyprotected CDs, because they are clearly inferior. Fortunately until now none of the CDs I bought or intended to buy had copy protection.
  10. A video stream of the ad is available here: http://www.mountaindew.com/code_red/tv_ads/index.php ("Football court") I haven't been able to watch it because of network problems in my office.
  11. You can find a list of all reissues of this material on the Miles Ahead website: http://www.plosin.com/milesAhead/sessions....sp?s=580526&c=0
  12. Every Windows 2K and XP user should turn off the messenger service, even if there were no problems until now. This feature was almost never used, until spammers found a way to abuse it.
  13. One guy is trying to sell ZYX box sets on ebay.com, for 5 times the zweitausendeins price. John Coltrane 16CDs 30€ - Ebay starting price $165 The LP-size US box with full booklet costs $225 Good luck
  14. When I posted this thread I only had problems with this website. All other pages I visited (US and european) were fine. Two hours later it was OK.

  18. You need to copy the URL of the image and put it between IMG tags in your post. Like this: [img=http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000006C5N.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg] This way the image is linked and not uploaded. It does not consume board server bandwith. If an image is not available online and you have it on your hard drive, you can upload it with the "File Attachment" function when you post a meesage.
  19. Hey, check this free Photoshop plugin! This would have been nice if his name was "Clifforde" Enough for now. You can find more at Amazon.com by doing a label search on "32 Records"
  20. (not that bad, maybe not by the 32 Records design department )
  21. I found some. I leave the description to you
  22. Where can one find pictures of the 32Jazz reissues? One good thing about the packaging (cover and awful black plastic box) is that these CDs sell very cheaply at second hand stores. Most shop owners think that these are low price reissues.
  23. He should be sentenced to one week of forced uninterrupted listening to the Four Freshmen set
  24. I have intermittent problems this morning when connecting to the Organissimo board. I get an error message saying that the webserver cannot be reached. Please vote in the poll above so I can see if it is only me or if there is indeed a problem with the Organissimo server
