  1. Thanks Kevin, I'm looking forward to the Gil Evans CD. If Ron McMaster remastered them, I won't "upgrade" the Andrew Hill and Jackie McLean CDs, which I have in the Mosaic sets.
  2. Is Google Ads currently proposing context-related ads or is this just random content? This must be the music boy influence
  3. No, it doesn't bother me at all, as I usually don't scroll to the bottom of a page when there is nothing there to read. Does Google pay for just displaying the ads, or only for clicks on the ads? In the second case, you should put them where they are more visible. Lots of message boards do that. I must say though that I almost never click on ads, on any website.
  4. It's not the same function, but SA-CD.net has integrated a couple of affiliated CD stores in their website: http://www.sa-cd.net/showtitle/728
  5. R.I.P. Mr Lem. I haven't read any of his books, but Andrej Tarkovsky's film adaptation of "Solaris" is one of my favourite movies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solaris_(film)
  6. I hope Mosaic Records buys the BMG part
  7. Since that post, I bought the AKG K14P earbuds, which I find more comfortable (mainly because the cord is more flexible) and sounding better (a bigger, smoother sound) than the Sennheiser MX500. The price is around $20. http://www.akg.com/products/powerslave,id,...,mynodeid,.html http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=112841
  8. How many amateurs had film cameras in the early 1950's?
  9. My interpretation of this result is that beer (Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Austria, UK), is better for the IQ than wine (France, Spain), Vodka (Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia) or no alcohol at all (Turkey).
  10. Handless and nameless
  11. http://www.rupyb.com/at/political/us_elect...mystery_solved/ (but at least you're smarter than the Canadians)
  12. Warner bought 50% of Rhino in 1992, and the other 50% in 1998 http://www.bsnpubs.com/warner/rhino/rhinostory.html
  13. Would it be possible to modify the CD Universe search button so that the CD Universe page opens in another tab (or for the IE users, in another window)?
  14. At what speed are you extracting the data? I always limit the speed to 12x and never had a problem with any CD.
  15. AFAIK, there are two film recordings of Bird. The one linked above, which is a 1950 studio performance called "Jammin'", and a April 1952 TV performance of "hot house" with Dizzy. Too bad Dean Benedetti didn't have a camera

    Prestige RVGs

That depends on how much you like the cello
  17. I have never owned a Beatles record (or even listened to an entire Beatles album). In jazz, my collection (about 2000 CDs) is rather thin on singers and 1920-40 recordings. Only one Basie CD (Atomic Basie), one Billie Holiday CD (Songs for Distingué Lovers), and one Ella CD (Porgy and Bess). I also have no Mahavishnu Orchestra recording, although I like John McLaughlin.
  18. I would prefer keeping the search function instead of just a clickable banner. Like the one they have on Audio Asylum (looks like they designed it themselves): http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/hirez/bbs.html
  19. The music labels actually have the intention to raise the download prices, once the service is firmly established. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/02/28/do...ds_price_rises/ I don't think that many MP3 users are selling their CD collections. It's been 2-3 years now that high capacity MP3 players exist (and even longer for MP3 to be a popular on computers), and I haven't noticed increased CD volumes in second hand stores. People who have been collecting CDs continue to listen to them at home, in addition to listening to music outdoor with their iPod. I guess this is especially true with jazz and classical music.
  20. I don't think so. Used CDs rather follow the price evolution of new CDs. The second hand stores I visit usually lower the prices of the CDs they sell when the know the title has moved to the mid price range.
  21. Nothing easy, unfortunately. I don't want to take away any income from Alan's site, that's for sure. Keep doing what you're doing, is what I'd say. For those who haven't done click-through's on Alan's site, consider doing them here. That seems to be fair. If I understood the explanation in the other thread correctly (please correct me if I'm wrong), once you follow a referrer (either Organissimo or Jazzmatazz) to CD Universe, the cookie that signals CD Universe who referred you to them is valid for 6 hours. So if you click on a jazzmatazz link first and less than 6 hours later on a Organissimo link, and then buy a CD, it will still be Jazzmatazz who gets credited for the purchase (and vice versa).
  22. I can see where they are heading: Mosaic full box sets --> Mosaic Selects --> Mosaic Singles --> Mosaic iTunes

    diskkiosk

It's a service offered in cooperation with Universal (UK), so it's limited to artists from that label. This has already existed for Universal's classical labels.
  24. Hi Daniel and Flurin, Someone is selling "Fingerpaintings" on Amazon France (not sure they ship everywhere): http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000047FK Amazon Germany still lists it, but with a shipping time of 4-6 weeks, which means they will order it from the label (unsuccesfully probably): http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000047FK/
