  1. They are not selling burns, and they are legit in Europe and many other parts of the world, but not in the US as far as recordings are concerned that are less than 70 years old.
  2. The first three sessions are not lead by Charlie Parker, and the Carnegie set is live and may not be a Savoy recording.
  3. It's a good thing that in the discographies, allmusic makes a different section for compilations. This avoids having the original albums of popular artists among loads of "Best of" samplers. But I noticed that allmusic has an annoying tendency to put albums in the compilations section that are in fact one session, and should be considered an original album. When you look for the new John coltrane "One up one down" or the Monk/Trane "Carnegie Hall" releases, they are not shown in the album section but among the comilations.
  4. This is the same legal grey zone that the russian mp3 stores exploit, by using radio licenses to sell mp3s. It's highly doubtful that they are authorized to sell music outside the country.
  5. I haven't been using internet radio for a long time. While playing around with the videolan media player I discovered the Shoutcast function and browsed through the radio stations. Among the many "smooth jazz" and easy listening statiosn I found a very interesting program which plays all sorts of jazz http://www.sky.fm/channel/playlist/jazz Go to http://www.sky.fm and scroll down to "Modern Jazz". Winamp and Windows Media Player can be used. The MP3 streaming quality is 96k.
  6. No. But I'm scared now. Is it a mental disease that collectors can catch?
  7. This is currently being discussed on that forum where folks get into their music WAY more seriously than we ever could http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=69794
  8. I have the "Stop making sense" DVD and that's enough Talking Heads for me, but I will certainly get this: http://www.talking-heads.net/
  9. Only if you consider Duke as a bandleader and not a pianist.
  10. You can get it from Germany 17 days earlier: http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/jazz/detail/-/hnum/4772424 http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000AP2Z6C/
  11. I wouldn't give too much on Stereophile's opinion when it comes to Musical Fidelity products, because the magazine seems to have a very special relationship with this brand. The very high number of reviews and the constant level of praise is very suspicious.
  12. Where did you get those XCP CDs? I think they were not distributed in Europe. If you bought them as imports in a european store, I am sure it will take them back, because these are not only flawed but also dangerous products (if you play them on a PC).
  13. Where did you get those XCP CDs? I think they were not distributed in Europe.
  14. Stop making sense!
  15. Yes, it is considered to be the reference recording. The sound is very good too. (the back of the booklet has the original LP cover)
  16. Scams have hit five million people in the UK
  17. I don't know about Dell PCs, but most current PCs don't have one but 4-5 fans: - CPU - Power supply - Mainboard northbridge - graphic card - and sometimes an additional case fan The most important is the CPU fan. If it fails, the CPU can fry. That's why the BIOS alarm normally only checks that fan.
  18. 20 pages of discussions on the Steve Hoffman forum: Talking Heads - Brick set Dual Discs
  19. It could be that the fan takes a bit longer to reach it's normal speed (due to dust or age), which then triggers a fan fail warning. Check if the CPU fan is clean. You could disable the Fan fail warning in the Bios settings, but that would also cause the PC not to give a message when the fan really fails.
  20. Well said Paul ! Thanks to the band and the whole team! I hang out on the three big jazz forums (Org, AAJ, JC) and this is overall the best one, with the highest info/crap ratio
  21. Why does the paper on the back of the box mention under "The Basics": Keith Jarrett records for ECM. His only Columbia album "Expectations" has already been reissued in a definitve version. What releases are they referring to?
  22. Not for the Delta set. It is packaged as 2 CDs in individual jewel cases in a cardboard sleeve. There are older Trema reissues on individual CDs that can still be found, but the single CDs are generally more expensive than the Delta set. http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004RJJR/ http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004RJJR/
  23. 7 Euro for the 2CD set, in stock: http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/jazz/detail/-/lang...zz/hnum/4766308
  24. Even a thread about this news? 'Soup Nazi' plans to franchise his store
  25. Freddie Hubbard - Rollin' (MPS, 1981)
